DC Comics All Access: Bob Harras

And so 2011 draws to a close.

By any definition, it was an incredibly successful year for us here at DC Comics. It was a year of excitement for anyone who loves comics.

Now, not to sound corny -- but the most important thing to us is that all of you who love and read DC Comics responded in such an incredibly positive way to The New 52.

We appreciate it. It's why we do what we do.

But 2011 was just the beginning. Next year will bring even more changes, more action and more surprises. The evolution of the DC Universe will continue and accelerate as events ripple across titles, impacting characters in unexpected ways.

For instance, check out next month's STORMWATCH, in which a devastating explosion will echo in upcoming issues of both GRIFTER and SUPERMAN, as a major new (yet somehow familiar) threat will be introduced.

And keep an eye on BIRDS OF PREY in the coming months, where Black Canary's long-held secrets will start to unravel.

And what exactly is Kid Flash's story? TEEN TITANS will explore that mystery early next year.

All that and more is coming in 2012.

So, best wishes for a Happy New Year from all of us at DC.

See you next year!

-- Bob Harras, Editor-in-Chief

DCE Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns' Holiday Gift Guide

I love to cook and there's some great cookbooks out there for other people that do. Some of my favorite recent ones are THE MOZZA COOKBOOK which comes from a fantastic italian restaurant and pizzeria in Los Angeles, co-owned by Mario Batali.

The MOMOFUKU MILK BAR cookbook focuses on unbelievably unique dessert recipes from chef Christina Tosi, who is a cook after my own heart. Included in this book are recipes for cereal milk ice cream, this stuff called crumb and crack pie. A truly fun cookbook.

Finally, there's a book called THE NEW GREEK CUISINE that comes from a Greek restaurant called Molyvos that is just around the corner from the DC offices in New York City. Peter Tomasi and I plotted a lot of Green Lantern stories there. There's a baklava recipe that (almost) rivals my grandmother's.

Happy Holidays!

DCE CO-PUBLISHER DAN DIDIO’S HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE

Previews of Next Week’s DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 Releases

Next week, the DC offices will be closed for the holidays. However, that’s not stopping the final batch of fourth issues of DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 from landing in comic book stores on Wednesday. Previews of the various issues have been running for the past few days across the Internet and we’ve compiled them all here on THE SOURCE for your convenience.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY continued previewing DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 on their homepage by premiering an exciting sequence from SUPERMAN #4.

USA TODAY interviewed BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT writer David Finch and ran an exclusive preview of issue #4. “She's a character who can never be caught but loves to be chased," Finch said of the White Rabbit. “It's such a great playful character, and she's a lot of fun to draw. It seems like she's connecting (with fans), which is great.”

And if that’s not enough of the Justice League family for you, MAXIM had a preview of AQUAMAN #4, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES’ HERO COMPLEX debuted pages from THE FLASH #4, GAWKER’s IO9 showed a sequence from THE FURY OF FIRESTORM: THE NUCLEAR MEN #4 and MTV GEEK had a first look at THE SAVAGE HAWKMAN #4.

Over on the darker side of things, REVOLVER MAGAZINE had a preview of JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #4 and FEARNET had a sneak peek at I, VAMPIRE #4.

PASTE MAGAZINE invited you to see nineteenth century Gotham City in ALL-STAR WESTERN #4, COMICVINE previewed VOODOO #4 and NEWSARAMA posted a first look at BLACKHAWKS #4.

In IGN’s exclusive preview of GREEN LANTERNS: NEW GUARDIANS #4, Larfleeze breached the sacred citadel of the Guardians of the Universe. Meanwhile, COMIC BOOK RESOURCES’ sneak peek at TEEN TITANS #4 depicted a shared contemplative moment for team members Celine and Miguel.
