Fan favorite artist Gary Frank illustrated a variant cover for BATMAN #6, showing the Dark Knight’s bitter battle with a Talon from the Court of Owls. It’s part of the ongoing prelude to the “Night of the Owls,” the crossover event which BATMAN writer Scott Snyder teased last week. This variant cover is just a taste of Frank’s work in Gotham City. He is collaborating with New York Times bestselling writer Geoff Johns on BATMAN: EARTH ONE, the highly anticipated original graphic novel coming later this year.
The fan-favorite creative team of Dustin Nguyen and Derek Fridolfs will be illustrating a special two-part BATWING story arc, beginning with issue 7 in March. Best known for their stellar run on BATMAN: STREETS OF GOTHAM, the pair is also currently working on JUSTICE LEAGUE BEYOND.

The last issue of T.H.U.N.D.E.R. AGENTS featured a sequence illustrated by fan-favorite artist Jerry Ordway. This time around, series artist Wes Craig is joined by industry legend Walter Simonson for issue #3. “If it weren’t for Walter Simonson, I wouldn’t be writing (or maybe even still reading) comics -- and that’s no overstatement,” series writer Nick Spencer exclusively told THE SOURCE. “He’s been my favorite creator pretty much the entirety of my life, so please believe me when I say working with him on T.H.U.N.D.E.R. AGENTS #3 was the biggest honor of my career so far.”
In this week’s ceremony, Green Lantern won the People’s Choice Award for BEST MOVIE SUPERHERO, as portrayed by Ryan Reynolds in the 2011 film. Giving “fans a chance to honor their favorite entertainers” according to the official website, the People’s Choice Awards allows audiences to determine the nominees and winners. This year’s live telecast aired on January 11. Congratulations to Ryan, and to everyone involved in bringing GREEN LANTERN to the silver screen!
Following our announcement of Rob Liefeld’s new projects in DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, IGN had an exclusive interview with the writer/artist. “I wish I could time travel back to 1980 and tell my young self what is happening, he'd freak. I could not be more ecstatic,” he said.
Fan-favorite artist Carlos D’Anda will be joining the JUSTICE LEAGUE creative team as a special guest illustrator for issue #8. Most recently, D’Anda illustrated BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY, written by Paul Dini. The story served as narrative bridge between the critically acclaimed BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM and BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY video games. It is currently available as a collected hardcover, as well as in separate digital chapters via https://read.dccomics.com/. D’Anda was also a concept artist for both games.
This May, writer/artist Rob Liefeld will take on an expanded role in DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. He will be joining three titles – DEATHSTROKE, GRIFTER and THE SAVAGE HAWKMAN – beginning with their ninth issues. One of the key artists who helped to the define a generation of comic books, Liefeld is perhaps best known for helping to found Image Comics – along with Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, Erik Larsen, Whilce Portacio, Jim Valentino and Marc Silvestri. Most recently, he was the writer and artist for HAWK AND DOVE in DC COMICS-THE NEW 52.
