JUSTICE LEAGUE SKETCHBOOK: BATMAN

From New York Times bestselling writer Geoff Johns and legendary artist Jim Lee, JUSTICE LEAGUE launched DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 by introducing the dawn of the age of superheroes and the shared universe that they inhabit. But JUSTICE LEAGUE VOLUME ONE – ORIGIN contains than more just the story of the World’s Greatest Super Heroes’ first meeting.

DC Week-In-Review: April 27

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but that didn’t stop our artists from sharing plenty of insightful words with us this week (as well as some amazing pictures). With the Second Wave of New 52 titles just on the horizon, we spoke with some of the amazing illustrators bringing these great comics to life. We also gave a behind-the-scenes tour of our office, showed off some Before Watchmen and New 52 art, and wrapped things up with two big announcements.

Here’s what went down this week on the DC Comics website…

ARTIST IAN CHURCHILL TALKS THE RAVAGERS

“I'm flattered to have been asked to be part of the next wave of DC COMICS-THE NEW 52! Of the cast, Thunder and Lightning were existing characters, but Ridge is a brand new DC character. His look went through a few design changes at the behest of [Editor] Eddie Berganza; in fact it was Eddie's idea to add the feathery eyebrows and whiskers.

ARTIST TRAVEL FOREMAN ON BIRDS OF PREY

“I'm having a tremendous time taking on the BIRDS OF PREY characters. Its so rare that I get to draw a Superhero book that I've forgotten how great it is to draw capes and costumes. This is a bittersweet situation because Jesus Saiz was doing such pitch-perfect work on the book, but I hope people will enjoy my work on these issues.”
