Our very own Dan DiDio will be doing a very limited meet-and-greet with a few lucky fans at San Diego Comic-Con next week, at the Hero Initiative’s very own hotel suite. Got a burning question about DC Comics you want to toss at Dan? This is your chance. There are only five slots available, though, so you’ll have to act fast. Each of the winners will be escorted to the suite by Hero Initiative personnel, where they’ll then get to chat with Dan. You even get snacks and beverages – it’s your own personal DC NATION! Please note that this admittance is for ONE person ONLY! You may see multiple auctions, and they are all for the same event. More details below, courtesy of The Hero Initiative: WHO: Dan DiDio, Co-Publisher of DC Comics WHAT: A chance to meet and talk with Dan. (Limited to five people.) WHY: To support the Hero Initiative, the first-ever federally chartered not-for-profit corporation dedicated to helping comic book creators in need. Winner’s names will be recorded, and they must be redeemed by the winner. Berths are non-transferable, and any tickets transferred are immediately null and void, and will not be honored. Fairly warned be thee. Q: Is this tax deductible? A: Yes, to the extent allowed by law. The Hero Initiative is a nonprofit organization recognized by the federal government under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code. Q: Okay, what’s that mean? A: We cannot legally give tax advice. According to IRS regulations, we cannot determine the value of this donation. That is between you and your accountant. According to the IRS, the amount of deduction is based on the price that a "willing buyer" will pay for your item. We will happily issue a donation receipt, and will specify when your donation was made and what was paid. This auction is a benefit for The Hero Initiative, the first-ever federally chartered not-for-profit corporation dedicated to helping comic book creators in need. Hero creates a financial safety net for yesterdays' creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and entrée back into paying work.
