By DCE Editorial Friday, July 22nd, 2011
It doesn't matter if you're returning for your umpteenth visit or a first timer: The first day of the San Diego Comic-Con is sure to get you excited. Seeing so many talented and creative people - both the talent on hand and the people in attendance - in one place is truly a very cool experience. DC Entertainment got SDCC off with a bang not unlike a certain speedster makes when breaking the sound barrier. On the Flashpoint panel yesterday morning there were art previews and revelations about how the end of FLASHPOINT bridges into DC Comics The New 52. After that, appropriately, the attention turned to September's launch of DC Comics The New 52 as Dan DiDio and others took the stage to talk about what this whole new starting point for the DC Universe means and they revealed new artwork from the upcoming books. Batman also got his turn in the spotlight later that day as the entire Bat-related editorial team got together in Room 6DE to discuss what was happening in Gotham City and the characters that live there, with more exclusive new artwork being shown and other information shared with those in attendance. Also on the Batman front was a panel featuring Jim Lee on the upcoming Batman: Arkham City video game. We shared background on current and future plans for the DC Direct line of consumer products, including a reveal of the new JUSTICE LEAGUE action figures - stop by the DC Entertainment booth to check them out. As promised we've been handing out $100 Wayne Casino poker chips to those who ask particularly interesting questions at DC Comics panels. Don't forget: If you want to be the first to hear about news breaking from the San Diego Comic-Con make sure you're following DC Comics on Facebook, where we're sharing exclusive artwork and more "You heard it here first" news. And follow us on Twitter to get updates on what's happening where, who's signing at the DC Entertainment Booth and other updates throughout the day.
