Here at Vertigo, we pride ourselves on being edgy. It’s not enough to publish a comic about Jesus, we have to make him punk rock. If we’re going to tackle the subject of modern warfare, we’re going to focus on the war that hundreds of soldiers wage each day on their own lives. And if we’re going to publish a presidential drama, it’s going to have aliens in it, dammit. But this week we’re embracing our more artistic and literary side, as we learned two of our graphic novels have been nominated for the Huge Award. We’re honored to be up for such a prestigious award. But we’re still likely to come to the ceremony with shaved heads and mohawks.

Let’s see what other trouble we got into this week, shall we?

We kicked things off by announcing PUNK ROCK JESUS, a new miniseries written and drawn by Sean Murphy of JOE THE BARBARIAN and AMERICAN VAMPIRE: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST fame.

Later on we discovered that two of our books and several of our creators are finalists for the 2012 Hugo Award. The awards will be given out in the late summer, but feel free to congratulate our nominated creative teams now.

We got real with Will Dennis, as he shared some words from Eric Trautmann about one of his inspirations in writing SHOOTERS.

Finally, we joined the pilgrimage to Chicago for the third annual C2E2. On Thursday, we posted our panel schedule, and today we went live with our CON AWAY FROM CON coverage.
