Welcome to summer, DC-style. The weather has been warming up, but it’s DCComics.com that’s been red-hot this week. We primed you for the release of two huge hardcovers through a series of behind-the-scenes posts, announced a rocking new ambassador for We Can Be Heroes and showed you what happens when super heroes become threats (and start beating the stuffing out of each other) with a major video game announcement.

Here’s what went down this week on the DC Comics website…

What happens when the four-time Eisner-winning designer Chip Kidd teams up with artist extraordinaire Dave Taylor to take on the Dark Knight? You wind up with BATMAN: DEATH BY DESIGN, a truly visionary graphic novel that’s available now at a comic shop or bookstore near you. We celebrated the book’s release with a series of daily sketchbook posts. Check them out: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4 and Day 5.

Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang have been generating some well-deserved buzz with their amazing, mythology-rich relaunch of WONDER WOMAN. Have you read it yet? Well, with this week’s release of WONDER WOMAN VOL. 1: BLOOD, there’s never been a better time to start. Need further convincing? Check out our five-day breakdown of the book’s bonus content: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4 and…wait for it…Day 5.

Superman can fly, but the rest of us require other modes of getting around. Now you have a chance to win one of the best modes around—a Jifo 16 folding bike—by entering the Superman vs. The Elite Sweepstakes.

We kept things moving with some exclusive cover reveals, including Cameron Stewart’s variant cover for BATMAN, INCORPORATED #2 and a few different variants for BEFORE WATCHMEN: NITE OWL #1.

While we’re on the subject of WATCHMEN, did you know that the entire classic miniseries is now available for digital download through our app and online?

We finished off the week with a trio of big announcements. First, we broke the news that Chris Daughtry is teaming up with DC Entertainment to become an ambassador for the We Can Be Heroes giving campaign.

Then, just in time for E3, we announced our forthcoming fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and debuted its brand new trailer on Gamespot. Like what you see? Well, you’ll definitely want to keep an eye on THE SOURCE, as we have some bone-crunching-yet-beautiful new exclusives to share with you over the next few days. You heard it here first…

And finally, we put all the speculation to rest and shared which DC COMICS – THE NEW 52 character happens to be gay. Have you heard yet? Go check it out.

The weekend approaches! Stay super, stay heroic and most of all, stay cool. We’ll see you in seven!
