Has it already been a week since our last review? It feels like it was yesterday that we were teasing our new Arrow comic and talking about the new Justice League creative team. Well, you know what they say about time flying, and we’ve certainly been having fun this week. With what? Well, funny you should ask that…

Here’s what went down this week on the DC Comics website!

We opened, as we tend to do around this time each month, with our latest batch of group solicits. Here’s what we have to look forward to in December (and very early January) for the following groups:

Justice League

Superman

Batman

Green Lantern

The Dark

The Edge

Young Justice

Beyond DC Comics – The New 52

Before Watchmen

But group solicits were one of the things we were talking about this week. We also unveiled some fun content to help us count down the days (and for some of us, hours) to next Tuesday’s release of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1.

We introduced you to two of the men behind the microphone in a pair of VOICING THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS features, beginning with Michael McKean, who plays Dr. Bartholomew Wolper, before moving on to David Selby, who voices Commissioner Gordon.

We also shared some new clips, including a humorous scene featuring that always dependable scene stealer, Alfred, as well as a much more dramatic sequence showing how two cops view the newly returned Dark Knight.

Also, this week’s edition of our popular 5.2 Reasons column broke down why this new animated movie is a must see for fans of Batman, Frank Miller and seminal, universally acclaimed graphic novels

Getting back to the business of books, we then moved on to a few fun cover reveals, including giving you an exclusive first look at the covers for our final week of Zero Month and a good look at an action-packed JUSTICE LEAGUE #13 variant by Alex Garner.

We gave fans a way to look up their favorite creators (discovering the projects they’ve worked on for us in the process) with our new talent directory, and showed off a fresh batch of talent portraits taken this summer at SDCC.

Wednesday is also our day for fun features from DC Collectibles, and this week brought us Caption This!, a new addition to THE SOURCE where we post a specially shot photo featuring some of your favorite DC action figures or statues and invite you to write the caption.

Also on the subject of DC Collectibles, we revealed our New York Comic-Con “Con Exclusives,” which this year include a very unique take on the Dark Knight by our friends at Aardman, along with the latest set of our popular, con-only 3.75” action figures. Who were they? If you don’t know, you might want to click here to find out.

This week’s edition of our weekly Twitter giveaway offered mundies nationwide the chance to snag a fabulous Fables card signed by Mark Buckingham and Steve Leialoha.

Next week sees the release of the highly anticipated TALON #0, the first issue of the new series from Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV and Guillem March that spins out Snyder’s popular “Court of Owls” Batman storyline. And while you’ll have to wait till next week to read it, we gave you an early look at some of Guillem’s pencils yesterday and today.

While Talon doesn’t hit stands till next week, this week marked the launch of Sword of Sorcery, a new ongoing fantasy title featuring Amethyst of Gemworld. The debut issue, SWORD OF SORCERY #0, had more than a few memorable moments, but the one that had us really wondering what comes next was its last page and unexpected character cameo… It’s the focus of this week’s This Just Happened, so check it out, but be warned, here there be spoilers!

That’ll do it for another week here at DCComics.com. Enjoy your weekend (why, hello autumn!) and we’ll see you in seven!
