There are big weeks, and then there are astronomical ones, and this week is without a doubt in the latter camp. After all, while our stories are frequently set among the stars—especially if you’re a Green Lantern reader—we don’t often spotlight people who build their careers studying and teaching people about stars. However, that’s precisely what we did this week. We also introduced three new ongoing comics that will be coming soon to DC COMICS – THE NEW 52 and made a major announcement concerning where you can read our comics digitally.

But we’re getting a bit ahead of ourselves. Let’s recap these events and everything else we’ve been talking about since the weekend.

Here’s what went down this week on the DC Comics website…

We started things off with a few major announcements. We’d previously announced a new Justice League of America ongoing that's due to hit shops in February, but on Monday we announced that its first issue will be getting 52 variant covers. But that’s not all! We also announced that Katana and Vibe, two of the new JLA’s members, will be getting their own titles. And as if that weren’t already plenty, we also announced the new creative team for fellow member Green Arrow’s hit series: Jeff Lemire (Animal Man, Justice League Dark) and Andrea Sorrentino (I, Vampire). Be sure to click here and check out MTV Geek for all the details.

Also on the same day, world renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson helped us put Krypton on the map with a history-making appearance in ACTION COMICS #14. For a fun illustration of how we went about doing this, be sure to check out this cool animated video, which breaks down the method deGrasse Tyson used to pinpoint Krypton’s location. Finally, for a breakdown of Action Comics #14 revelatory—and very moving—final page, don’t miss this week’s edition of This Just Happened. But be warned, here there be spoilers!

On Tuesday, we gave fans of Arkham City and DC Collectibles their first look at the new Arkham City Deadshot action figure. And speaking of Arkham City, we also celebrated the 50th chapter of Batman: Arkham Unhinged, the popular digital first series set in the world of the bestselling videogame.

On Wednesday, we made reading your favorite DC comic books easier and more convenient than ever before when we announced that our entire line-up of periodical comics will now be available in the three biggest e-bookstores. We’ve come a long way from spinner racks.

Big week, but we weren’t anywhere near finished. Just yesterday, we announced the latest member of DC Comics – The New 52. You’ve seen him show up in Justice League Dark, Sword of Sorcery and Animal Man, but starting in March, John Constantine will be lighting up the pages (and lighting up in the pages) of his own monthly New 52 comic.

We also spotlighted Jeff Lemire, a man who’s quite familiar with Mr. Constantine, in this week’s edition of 5.2 Reasons. It’s no surprise that we’re pretty big fans of his work around here…but then again, it seems like many of you are as well!

That’ll just about do it for this week’s review, but we’ll leave you with this awesome new trailer for the upcoming Bombshells Wonder Woman statue from DC Collectibles. Also, you may want to keep an eye on THE SOURCE today for a couple more announcements. Though, uh…you didn’t hear that from us. ;)

See you in seven, DC fans!
