Welcome to What's New in The New 52 – where you, the fans, get a sneak peek at the stuff that crosses our desks. This little feature is a way to keep you all in the loop about what's new, different and exciting in The New 52 – whether it's a character design, cover, splash page or panel.

Today, allow me to introduce you to Psycho Pirate. Making his New 52 debut in next month’s issues of SUPERMAN and SUPERBOY, Psycho Pirate will be coming after both the Man and the Boy of Steel. But how is it that he’ll be fighting Superman in Metropolis and Superboy in Queens at the exact same time? As it turns out, Psycho Pirate is able to project himself into multiple locations – so who’s battling the real one?

Either way, Superman and Superboy better look out, because being in two places at once is not all that Psycho Pirate is capable of. By using his Medusa Mask, Psycho Pirate is able to make his enemies relive their most painful memories. When the snakes from the mask coil out and bite someone, they enter into layers of hidden emotions and force them to the surface. So is that why the people of Metropolis have all gone crazy? Hmm ….

Plus, if the H.I.V.E. Queen was seeking order and Hector Hammond was looking to take over for himself, what will Psycho Pirate’s anarchistic tendencies mean for Psi War? Check out Brett Booth’s design for Psycho Pirate above!

See you tomorrow,
Bob
