Welcome back to the Roundup! Yes, it’s been a crazy few weeks since the last time we spoke. Someone’s moved the entire moon and blocked out the sun! Super-villains are running rampant! There’s a war brewing between Arkham and Blackgate! The Justice League has disappeared!
Or, uh…maybe we’re getting comics and reality mixed up again. We’ve been known to do that on occasion.
Well, those dramatic events might not have taken place in the real world, but that doesn’t make them any less memorable, and we can likely expect more of them in not one, but two Forever Evil tie-in issues this month.
JUSTICE LEAGUE #24 looks at Ultraman, Superman’s kryptonite-sniffing Crime Syndicate doppelganger. Giving us a glimpse of his life on Earth 3 before arriving on our world, it provides some crucial backstory and context to the events currently unfolding in the greater DC Universe. And it comes wrapped up in an awesome Ivan Reis cover that playfully subverts Jim Lee’s now classic cover to JUSTICE LEAGUE #1.
Of course, if you’re looking for some present day Forever Evil action as well, you’ll get plenty of it in JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #24, which begins shortly after “Trinity War” ends as John Constantine awakens and tries to make sense of all that’s taken place. But why does he seem to be the only Justice League survivor? And what does all of this mean for the Justice League Dark?
All of this and new issues of Catwoman, The Flash, Batman: The Dark Knight, Aquaman, Superman, Talon, plus the latest chapter of “Lights Out” in Red Lanterns.
