Halloween is just two days away, and all of us are looking forward to costuming up and hitting the streets to keep the world safe—er, we mean to get candy with our kids or attend one of the nearby Halloween parties. Yes, we love Halloween right here at the DC Entertainment office, which should be fairly obvious from this week’s “DC All Access.” But what we’re not big on is the idea that we need to wait until Thursday night for treats. So it’s fortunate that there are plenty of treats to be found this Wednesday…at your local comic shop.

For starters, Wednesday marks the debut of Damian: Son of Batman, the new alternate universe miniseries written and drawn by Andy Kubert and starring an older, more weathered Damian Wayne. This story shows us what may have happened had Damian not met his tragic, far-too-young demise. It’s a must-read for fans of the character and for fans of cool, out-of-continuity stories. And did we mention it’s drawn by Andy Kubert?

Also, on the Vertigo side of things, we have two words for you. (Well, technically three. And a number.) The Sandman: Overture #1. The first issue of Neil Gaiman’s eagerly awaited Sandman prequel miniseries arrives tomorrow, and it’s a pretty sure bet that fans are going to be talking about it all holiday season. You’re definitely going to want to pick this one up, and if you’re looking for something to set the mood, check out some of the “25 Days of Sandman” features we’ve run these past weeks on the Vertigo site.

Green Lantern fans have much to look forward to as well, as this week sees the end of “Lights Out” the month-long crossover storyline that shakes up the Green Lantern universe for good. Already we’ve seen the destruction of the Blue Lanterns and Oa, as well as an unprecedented agreement between the Green and Red Lanterns. It’s safe to say that the final, extra-sized chapter will be one for the memory books. Look for it in Green Lantern Annual #2, written by Robert Venditti and drawn by Sean Chen.

And that’s just one of the awesome Annuals you’ll find in stores this week. Look for previews of all them, as well as the rest of our releases below…
