It’s that time of year nobody was looking forward to!
Hitting newsstands today is MAD #525, the iconic humor magazine’s annual “20 Dumbest People Events, and Things” issue. Each year, the “MAD 20” (as we like to call it here in our offices) is our bestselling and most-talked about issue, and this year looks like it’ll be continuing that inexplicable tradition! As revealed on PEREZ HILTON a few weeks ago, the cover showcases inane popstar Miley Cyrus twerking against MAD’s poster boy Alfred E. Neuman, who’s serving up his best Robin Thicke impression.
Along with Miley, MAD #525 also parodies politicians like Barack Obama, the U.S. Congress, and Anthony Weiner, athletes like Alex Rodriguez and Manti Te’o, chef Paula Deen, and many, many more! But how does the Usual Gang of Idiots decide who makes the final list?
“I think the stupidity inspires us – that people just keep doing things that deserve mockery,” MAD Editor John Ficarra said about the issue on a recent episode of DC All Access. “And this year was no exception – everything from the Obamacare website debacle to Reese Witherspoon and her DWI. There’s always something going on, whether it be in politics, sports or pop culture, that we can go after.”
To check out some sneak peeks at who else made the “20 Dumbest” list, check out some of the exclusive previews of the issue that ran in THE HUFFINGTON POST, MAXIM, THE ADVOCATE, CBS’ MAN CAVE, ZAP2IT, POPMATTERS, CRAVE ONLINE, ELITE DAILY, GAMMA SQUAD, COMIC BOOK RESOURCES’ ROBOT 6, and COMIC VINE.
