The Roundup: The Past is a Blast

The Roundup: The Past is a Blast

By Tim Beedle Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014

How would we describe this week? Groovy, man, groovy.

This week Batman’s past and present collide in the best way possible with the release of BATMAN ’66 MEETS THE GREEN HORNET #1, the first print issue of the smash retro-era mashup brought to you by the remarkable creative team of Kevin Smith, Ralph Garman, Ty Templeton and Alex Ross. Spun out of the popular digital first Batman ’66 comic series, Batman ’66 Meets the Green Hornet introduces the popular pulp character of Britt Reid and his kung fu kicking partner, Kato, to the mix. Whether you’ve been following the main Batman ’66 series or not, this week’s issue #1 is a must-read for anyone looking for a not-so-dark take on the Dark Knight. And people who like comic books (in other words—everyone!).

And that cover… We’re just gonna leave it here so you can all take a nice look.

But never fear, New 52 fans! We have plenty for you as well. Tomorrow, Swamp Thing takes to the seas in the second issue of our Swamp Thing/Aquaman crossover. But maybe he should’ve given the ocean’s king a heads up before declaring war on one of his subjects. Just sayin’.

Meanwhile, Superman: Doomed continues in the pages of ACTION COMICS #32 with the start of a new storyline, “Enemy of the State.” The infected Superman is on the loose and dangerous, and with Lex Luthor and Senator Lane calling the shots, something tells us the U.S. Government won’t be pulling its punches. Plus, we have new issues of Batman Eternal, The New 52: Futures End, Green Arrow, The Wake and much, much more, including the return of everyone’s favorite cute and colorful heroes in TINY TITANS: RETURN TO THE TREEHOUSE #1!
