Each week, DC Comics will be releasing a free—that's right, FREE—digital comic book issue featuring a sample chapter from one of our 25 Essential Graphic Novels as well as sample pages from the 2014 Essentials catalogue. These special issues, which will be available for free for one week, are ideal for new fans looking to learn more about DC Universe and its mature readers imprint Vertigo, and provide the perfect reading guide for those looking to wade the waters of DC Entertainment's extensive library of graphic novels and collections.

This week: Justice League #1!

Big news came out of Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment last week when the studio revealed plans for a whole slate of films—including a two-part Justice League adventure! The first installment is currently slated for release in 2017, but that doesn't mean fans can't begin learning all about the DC Universe's most well-known and prevalent super-team. And you can start with DC COMICS ESSENTIALS: JUSTICE LEAGUE #1!

The premiere title in the DC COMICS—THE NEW 52 line-wide revamp, Justice League is written by critically acclaimed, award-winning writer Geoff Johns with art by the legendary Jim Lee. When the world comes under attack from mysterious invaders, Batman and Green Lantern join forces with Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg to save the DC Universe—that is if they can stop fighting each other first.

Although there have been a number of Justice League incarnations with various members throughout the years, Justice League #1 is the perfect jumping on point for new readers, featuring the most recognizable members and placing the team in a very modern context.
