It’s no trick! As revealed this morning on Hitfix, Mark Hamill will be playing James Jesse, perhaps better known as the Trickster, on The Flash.

Hamill is obviously best known for his role in the original Star Wars trilogy and as the voice of the Joker in the classic Batman: The Animated Series. However, fans of the original 1990 Flash series know that this is actually the second time he’s played the Trickster. Hamill also played the villain on that series, which makes his return to the role in the current one an interesting bit of synchronicity (you have to wonder if he’ll be sharing any scenes with original Flash, John Wesley Shipp).

Also of interest is the description of the role: "Mark Hamill returns in a brand new interpretation of James Jesse (aka The Trickster), a role he originated on the 90's Flash series.  In this new iteration, The Trickster is an anarchist terrorist  con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry (Grant Gustin) and Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original's deadly footsteps. The episode will reunite him with John Wesley Shipp who went up against him as the original 'Flash' on the CBS version."

Sounds like we’ll be seeing another Trickster on the show. Axel Walker, perhaps? All we can do is wait and speculate until Hamill makes his debut in Episode 17 of The Flash, sometime in 2015.

More to come…
