SPOILER ALERT: If you have not read THE NEW 52: FUTURES END #41 yet and do not wish to know what happens, stop reading this post now (major spoilers ahead!).

From a ship full of long-lost characters from previous eras, to the formation of a very familiar energy field, THE NEW 52: FUTURES END #41 sets the stage for the much anticipated CONVERGENCE event beginning in April.

This week’s jaw-dropping issue opens to Braniac’s rampage on Manhattan. As the super-villain tries to trap the city underneath a powerful energy grid, the super-heroes are stuck on the outside, unable to help.

After 2 failed attempts at breaching the force field, Shazam and a few others are finally able to transport themselves into the dome and begin their assault on Braniac.

But as Shazam makes his way towards Braniac, he’s blasted out of the force field and is grabbed out of the air by a familiar face! Billy Baston, aka Shazam, aka Masked Superman, finally comes face to face with the hero he’s been impersonating. Does this indicate more hints towards CONVERGENCE? Heroes from the past coming face to face with their counterparts within the multiverse? Is there more of this to come?

Besides the return of Superman, see below as Braniac’s blast creates a better glimpse of the mysterious energy grid. Does it look familiar to you? Perhaps like the promo image revealed for CONVERGENCE? How will the other super-heroes penetrate the dome to save Manhattan? Sound off in the comments below!
