During their Television Critics Association winter press tour presenation this weekend, The CW gave Vixen fans something to crow about (and roar and screech...eh, you get the idea) when they announced that the animated series set within the Arrow, Flash and Legends universe will be getting a second season. The debut season of the series premiered on CW Seed, The CW’s digital channel, last summer to much success. Featuring Stephen Amell, Grant Gustin, Emily Bett Rickards and Carlos Valdes voicing their live action roles, Vixen most notably introduced actor Megalyn Echikunwoke in the title role, which she will also soon be bringing to live action life on Arrow in episode 15 of the current season.

CW President Mark Pedowitz showed some great support for the character, suggesting that she may have an ongoing future outside the animated series. "Hopefully that character can spin itself out—if not, join Legends," Pedowitz teased.

While there’s no word yet on when Season 2 of Vixen will debut, you can get caught up by checking out Season 1 (which has now been conveniently compiled into one 30-minute video) right now on CW Seed.

Meanwhile, The Flash is due to get a pretty awesome guest behind the camera later this season when beloved writer, director and fanboy Kevin Smith directs an episode. A huge fan of comic books and of the DC Universe in particular, Smith shares his opinions on the Dark Knight and his world on his regular “Fatman on Batman” podcast and has written comics focused on Batman and Green Arrow… which makes his choice to direct The Flash a particularly exciting one since fans have yet to see his take on the character.

Sounds like there are good things ahead for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow and The Flash! Wondering about Supergirl and Gotham? Well, keep an eye on DCComics.com as Warner Bros., CBS and FOX have their TCA presentations this week.
