This Saturday, May 6th is Free Comic Book Day, a yearly celebration devoted to spreading the good word about all things comics! If you’re new to Free Comic Book Day (or FCBD, as it’s called for short), you’re in for a treat. All day long, comic shops the world over will be handing out free comic books from a wide variety of publishers… including DC!

This year we have two free comics available. First, in anticipation of the June 2nd theatrical release of Wonder Woman, look for WONDER WOMAN #1 FCBD 2017 SPECIAL EDITION. Written by Greg Rucka and drawn by Nicola Scott, this issue kicks off Rucka’s acclaimed retelling of Diana’s origin, which you can find in the recently released WONDER WOMAN VOL. 2: YEAR ONE. It’s the perfect way to get pumped about this summer’s blockbuster release.

After that, it’s time to get your cape on with our second offering, DC SUPER HERO GIRLS #1 FCBD 2017 SPECIAL EDITION. Written and drawn by the dynamic duo of Shea Fontana and Yancey Labat, this kid-friendly comic looks in on the girls of Super Hero High, and gives DC Super Hero Fans a sneak peek at the girls’ next graphic novel adventure.

You can find more info on the two comics by clicking here.

Even better, the free comics are only the beginning! Many comic shops celebrate FCBD by hosting signings by some of your favorite comic creators. This year, DC writers and artists are participating in events throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Wondering if any of them are in your neighborhood? You can find out by using our interactive map below. Please note that some of these signings may require wristbands or some form of preregistration and all events are subject to change, so we suggest checking the shop’s website or social media account to confirm before heading down.
