By now, most fans of Batman and exciting animation have seen the two era-spanning shorts produced by Bruce Timm and WB Animation in celebration of the Dark Knight’s 75th anniversary. We thought it would be fun and enlightening to sit down with Kevin Conroy for an interview about these two unique projects. Only, in staying true to the spirit of the shorts, we're keeping the interview brief. Three questions—one for each minute of animation!
Welcome back for another installment of Preview Monday! This week, we’re giving you a double-dose of DC! And they’re both about the super hero of the year: Batman!
Yesterday, the newest version of the Justice League made its comic store debut in the pages of JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED #0. Set within the frozen isolation of Northern Ontario, Canada after the events of Forever Evil, the first issue offers a unique take on a super team crafted by the impeccable creative team of Jeff Lemire and Mike McKone. As most fans likely know, it’s rare that a comic debuts with a “zero issue.” We’re more accustomed to seeing new titles launch with an issue #1. This made us curious about other numbers associated with the debut of this brand new monthly.
We’re now in the third week of Batman Eternal, and DC’s new weekly Batman comic shows no sign of slowing down (as indicated by issue #3’s Batmobile meets bombs cover). A dangerously familiar villain is back in town and he’s wasting no time buying friends and high places, while poor Commissioner Gordon is stuck behind bars.
Badges? You don’t need no stinking badges! Not if you watch DC All Access!
SPOILER ALERT: If you have not read THE FLASH #30 and do not wish to know what happens, stop reading this post now.
SPOILER ALERT: Do not read any farther if you haven’t yet seen this week’s episode of Arrow, “Seeing Red” and don’t want to have the ending ruined for you. Fair warning.
This weekend, while many of us were walking the WonderCon walk (hopefully in our most comfortable shoes), plenty of writers and journalists were hopping on news sites like IGN and Comic Book Resources to talk the WonderCon talk.
We spent the weekend surrounded by thousands of amazing people who love comics, we just posted the latest episode of our webseries devoted entirely to the world of comics, and now we’re looking ahead to tomorrow where we’ll be treated to a big stack of brand new, hot-off-the-presses…COMICS!
