Before we dive into the week (or, at least, I do), we wanted to steer your attention to a notable bit of press – namely, IGN’s feature on the “best of” the DC Universe.
With the team split in two and wanted for acts of war, The Outsiders find themselves fighting with one another in order to survive. While Geo-Force, Katana and the Eradicator build a new team in Markovia, Black Lightning, Owlman and Metamorpho find themselves at the home of an old friend who just happens to want Metamorpho dead. Plus, who’s the Creeper facing off against?
Marc Guggenheim isn’t the only big name signing up for the Justice Society. Come October, artist Scott Kolins will be stepping aboard the series for a spell, and, well, that begs for a peek at some art, no?
Before we show off the goods, we checked in with JSA editor Mike Carlin for a little background on what makes Kolins such a great fit for the Justice Society:
The reimagining of Superman's early days concludes as he faces his toughest foe yet – his childhood friend Lex Luthor. The victor will be Metropolis's hero. If you think you know how this plays out, then you underestimate how much Luthor wants that title…
SUPERMAN: SECRET ORIGIN #6 hits 8/25.
We can never get too much great art, and more specifically, we can never get too much Gary Frank art. His run on SUPERMAN: SECRET ORIGIN has been, well, superb. His knack for detail and widescreen storytelling has brought a new level of modernity to the tale of the boy from Krypton, while not sacrificing an inch of the story’s legacy.
Consider this an engraved invitation to a spectacular anniversary celebration, as writer Paul Levitz brings the World’s Finest face-to-face with the Legion of Super-Heroes. Lex Luthor has unleashed a threat so powerful it’s garnered the Legion’s attention in the distant future. But they can’t take him down without a trip to the past to recruit Batman and Superboy.
By now, you’ve seen a few of these lovely White Lantern covers, featuring Aquaman, Firestorm and more — but did you know that together, the covers form a massive, amazing piece of art that shows many of BRIGHTEST DAY’s key players while also teasing at what may be to come?
I’m on vacation, but still – what better way to head into the weekend than by posting some nice images to click through?
What’ve we got? Don Kramer’s cover to WONDER WOMAN #602, Kevin Maguire’s JUSTICE LEAGUE: GENERATION LOST #9, John Cassaday on DOC SAVAGE #6, Ryan Sook’s BATMAN: THE RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE #5 and a lovely Kevin Nowlan BATMAN #703 piece.
Have a great weekend!
Grant Morrison and artist Frazer Irving continue their epic BATMAN AND ROBIN tale, as one of our heroes lies near death. Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne enter the ultimate, blood-soaked battle against two foes who almost destroyed the original Batman. But are they up for the challenge? And if they can’t make it as a team, have they sealed their fates?
BATMAN AND ROBIN #14 hits 8/25.
The fireworks continue as writer Paul Cornell and artist Pete Woods continue to chronicle the mad adventures of super-villain Lex Luthor, as his all-consuming quest for power leads him straight into conflict with Deathstroke, the Terminator. What happens when the DCU's most ingenious mastermind meets its most lethal killer? Well, we’re not going to spoil all the fun.
