The Green Lantern power ring is the most powerful weapon in the universe. Drawing from the strength of the user’s willpower, the ring creates hard light constructs in any form the ring bearer can think of. The power ring also gives the user the power of flight, an energy protection shield and access to records and data while on duty.

History:

Driven by the mid-mission death of his father, and often grounded for insubordination, Hal Jordan rose to become one of the best and most fearless pilots the U.S. Air Force had ever seen. Hal’s fierce willpower led to his being chosen to wear the ring of the dying Green Lantern Abin Sur, who had crash-landed on Earth after a battle with Atrocitus. Accepting the ring, Hal became a member of the Green Lantern Corps and was assigned to Earth. Trained by Sinestro, Hal once again used his strong will and fearlessness to become one of the best Green Lanterns in the galaxy.

Over time, Hal has battled the enemies of the Green Lantern Corps such as The Manhunters and Black Hand. Often teaming with fellow Lanterns of Earth, John Stewart, Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner, Hal has been at the forefront of missions involving the other color Corps in the universe. Recently, Hal has been at odds with his former masters, the Guardians of the Universe, as they have begun to see him as a threat to their plans. Hal Jordan is also a founding member of the Justice League.
