That's right! We've begun our annual nationwide search for four summer interns to join our (in)famous editorial staff. You'll participate in brainstorming sessions, work on article conception and help publish an issue. You WON'T fetch coffee or run personal errands for the staff!
We will offer two internship sessions for Summer 2009. The first internship begins June 1 and ends July 10; the second begins July 13 and ends August 21. These are full-time commitments (5 days a week, 9:30-5:30).
All MAD Interns MUST arrange to receive college credit in exchange for participating in the internship program. (You'll have to work this out with your department chairman, chairwoman, chairperson, or all three if necessary! Official documentation is required!) there is NO PAY involved.
To qualify as a MAD intern, here's what you need to do:
1. Pick up a recent regular issue of MAD (not a reprint) and familiarize yourself with it.
2. Come up with at least one premise for an article you think should be in MAD. (No TV or movie satires!) Give three examples of how you would develop it. Rough sketches are welcome but not necessary. Originality is prized.
3. Send all non-returnable materials to:

or e-mail it to dave.croatto@madmagazine.com. Be sure to include your name, address, e-mail address, phone number and school. All entries must be received by March 27, 2009. All entrants will be notified shortly thereafter.
Remember, all applications are treated as submissions, which means even if you're not chosen as an intern, you can still sell us an article. We pay top rates on acceptance! Previous MAD interns have gone on to employment with such companies as Lucasfilm, MTV and MAD! Many of our interns have made article sales and gone on to have a continuing working relationship with MAD.
Again, The first internship begins June 1 and ends July 10. The second internship begins July 13 and ends August 21.
Who knows? With any kind of bad luck, you could become one of "The Usual Gang of Idiots!"

MAD Magazine needs help!
ThatŐs right. The MAD Art Department is looking for sharp college students to help us put together our magazine.
Intern candidates should have experience in graphic design and a working knowledge of the major design programs — preferably on, Mac OS X. We currently use Quark XPress, but prospective interns working with Adobe InDesign are certainly still eligible. We also require familiarity with Photoshop and Illustrator. And, of course, they should have experience in grunt work, apple-polishing and fetching coffee Ń preferably with a scone or pastry.
