This month, DC Comics will release its next batch of Annuals. These special oversized issues will not only build off of the events in their respective series, but will also greatly impact the expanding DC Universe. Every day this week on THE SOURCE, we’ll be putting individual spotlights on each of these Annual issues by talking to various writers, artists, and editors to give you special sneak peeks at what’s to come! Next up is THE FLASH ANNUAL #1.
Mother’s Day may not be until this weekend but we here at THE SOURCE thought we’d jumpstart our celebration by asking some of our creators to reflect on how their mothers inspired their careers in the comic book industry. Francis Manapul, artist and co-writer of THE FLASH, shares a personal story below.
Get your bags packed because DC Entertainment is heading to WonderCon! This year we'll be attending the show from March 16-18 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.
A lot of amazing stuff has been happening with us and we can't wait to share the details. If you want the latest on BEFORE WATCHMEN, DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, the DC Nation animation block and Vertigo, come hang out with us at WonderCon! Don't worry if you can't make it - all the goings-on will be covered on our website and blogs, so be sure you check in for updates.
Captain Cold makes his return in THE FLASH #6, available this week. Speaking with POPMATTERS about the re-imagined rogue and what’s on the horizon for Barry Allen, co-writers Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato also addressed the design of the series and their unique use of real-life science to tell a science-fiction story. “We have certain goals in terms of where we want to take Barry Allen, and the Flash,” said Manapul.
Paving the way for the return of Captain Cold in THE FLASH #7, Mike Choi’s awesome variant cover for THE FLASH #6 depicts a frozen Barry Allen mid-movement. Below, take an exclusive first look for yourself. “THE FLASH is one of my favorite books right now, so it was a real pleasure and honor to get the chance to work on a cover for the title,” Choi exclusively told THE SOURCE.
