"Where we go in the book will surprise some people"—Geoff Johns on AQUAMAN

Geoff Johns announced over the weekend at MegaCon in Orlando that he’ll be writing a new AQUAMAN ongoing series, spinning out of the events of BRIGHTEST DAY.

Today, NEWSARAMA has the first interview on the upcoming ongoing series, with Geoff explaining, "I really want to find Aquaman's place in the DC Universe, but then also explore what he means within the rest of that world."

Head over to NEWSARAMA for plenty of teases about what’s in store for Aquaman, Mera, Aqualad, and Black Manta.

LIMITED BRIGHTEST DAY ACTION FIGURES SOLD EXCLUSIVELY AT C2E2 AND WONDERCON

[gallery link="file" order="DESC" columns="2"]

Hey, BRIGHTEST DAY fans! Looking to complete your collection of DC Direct’s awesome 3-part action figure omnibus based on the bestselling series? Well, look no further than this year’s C2E2 and WonderCon. These conventions will serve as the only places where you can purchase two exclusive figures that not only coincide with the rest of the BRIGHTEST DAY action figure set, but stand alone as incredible collector’s items.

At each of these conventions, 1000 action figures of White Lantern: The Flash and White Lantern: Batman will be made available. These gorgeous action figures are so limited in quantity that each guest will be restricted to only buying one of each (while supplies last).

Sold exclusively through Graphitti Designs (Booth 717 at C2E2 and Booth 201 at WonderCon), White Lantern: The Flash and White Lantern: Batman are must-have collectibles for anyone who is a fan of Batman, The Flash and/or the DC Universe. Don’t miss these rare opportunities to celebrate the upcoming epic conclusion to BRIGHTEST DAY and own two of the most distinctive action figures of 2011.

The End and The Beginning

There are only three issues left of the bestselling BRIGHTEST DAY series. Issue 22 is cryptically titled “The End and The Beginning” and it’s all about Firestorm’s struggle to be the best hero that he can be.

I don’t want to give anything away or spoil the story, so I’ll just say that the issue has been aptly titled and leave it at that.

Written by Geoff Johns and Peter J. Tomasi and with art by Scott Clark, Ivan Reis, and Joe Prado, BRIGHTEST DAY #22, is on sale in stores today.

After Brightest Day Comes... The Search

Following the exciting conclusion to Brightest Day, the new protector of Earth has been chosen - but one reluctant hero makes a return to try and convince Batman, Superman and the rest of the DC Universe's heroes that this may not be a good thing at all.

BRIGHTEST DAY AFTERMATH: THE SEARCH will be a three-part miniseries written by Jonathan Vankin and drawn by Marco Castiello chronicling the fallout of Brightest Day. We can't give away too much about it now, but keep reading Brightest Day and keep an eye on The Source for more clues.

THE SEARCH begins in June.

The shape of things to come

It's been a long journey for the Martian Manhunter since his revival, including an entire lifetime of false happiness on a rejuvenated Mars. But now the veil is lifted from J'onn's eyes, and they're filled with tears of rage.

It's time to settle things with D'kay, but when given the choice between a new Mars and Earth, J'onn has to ask himself...

Where is my real home?

BRIGHTEST DAY #21 hits stores March 2nd.

This is Aquawar (Part 2)

BRIGHTEST DAY #19 ended with Black Manta striking a very deadly blow during the first battle of the much anticipated Aquawar. The action picks up in issue 20, with a battle of father against son and the emergence of a new hero. Ivan Reis and Joe Prado deliver epic action throughout this issue, including an amazing two-page spread that ends this preview.

What say you, Aquaman fans? Have you recovered from last issue's cliffhanger yet?

"Valentine's Day is just a made-up day. But so is Wednesday."

Someone once said "Valentine's Day is just a made-up day. But so is Wednesday. Also, I think gravity is made up."

That someone? Gail Simone.

Hmmm, that doesn't exactly bode well for Huntress and Catman's upcoming first date, does it? We asked Gail, is this going to be a disastrous first date?

Here's what she had to say about BIRDS OF PREY issue 11:

"The most requested date in BIRDS OF PREY history happens in this issue. It's mostly about shy glances over a shared milkshake, and holding hands chastely in a lovely dewy meadow while parasols twirl slowly in the gentle breeze of Autumnal air.

"Well, no, not REALLY, these are the two lustiest, toughest members of the Birds and the Secret Six, so it's really more about sharp pointy things and bad behavior!"

Bad behavior? From Catman and Huntress?

Come to think of it, most of the time, these relationships seem destined to end in tragedy.

Superheroes rarely have much luck with romance, but it can happen...

This is Aquawar

Aquaman's second chance at life hasn't quite worked out the way he expected. His wife has betrayed him, and his powers don't work like they should. Now, in BRIGHTEST DAY #19, writers Geoff Johns and Peter Tomasi and artists Ivan Reis, Joe Prado, Oclair Albert and Rob Hunter bring us the Aquawar.

This is a big, bold issue, one chock full of widescreen action and intrigue. I think I can safely predict that the cliffhanger will have fans talking this week.

Here's a look at the open round of the Aquawar...
