DCU in 2011: ENTER THE STAR SAPPHIRES

Today is Green Lantern day on THE SOURCE, and we're continuing with a tease from BRIGHTEST DAY #17 featuring the Star Sapphires.

What happens in that issue?

According to GL Editor Adam Schlagman, "Carol Ferris and the Star Sapphires join Hawkman and Hawkgirl in a fight for the survival of Zamaron and the purity of love, but with the Hawks' connection to the cosmic corps, it looks like this meeting may end in bloodshed."

Got Variants?

Here's a couple of variant covers (and one non-variant) to end the day. We've got a double dose of BRIGHTEST DAY, with the covers to issues #17 and #18. Issue #17 is a non-variant by David Finch, and #18 is a variant by Ivan Reis and Oclair Albert. Next, Bill Sienkiewicz has an energetic, stylish cover for DCU: LEGACIES #9. And there's an awesome David Mack variant cover to JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #53.

Enjoy.

THIS JUST HAPPENED: GREEN LANTERN #59

GREEN LANTERN #59 has got it all – strong character moments involving some of the icons of the DCU, action, tantalizing clues and a helluva cliffhanger at the end, all masterfully presented by writer Geoff Johns and artist Doug Mahnke. And that cliffhanger’s what “This Just Happened” is all about. So my first question is – have you read the issue? If not, make your way to the shop, plop down some cash and give it a read.

Done yet? Alright. Click below.

Dark Knight, White Lantern? Welcome to BRIGHTEST DAY #14

Deadman heads to Gotham to finally purge himself of the troublesome White Lantern ring – but is that really what the White Ring wants? As Batman and Deadman cross paths, things take a deadly turn, and the series blazes into its second half in a very special story from Johns and Tomasi lushly illustrated in full by the BLACKEST NIGHT creative team of Ivan Reis and Joe Prado. Every issue of this book has been can’t-miss, but make a point to hit your store today, folks, because this one in particular will tug at your heart strings.

BRIGHTEST DAY #14 hits today.

What is the “AQUAWAR”?

Before we roll into the full list of BRIGHTEST DAY solicits, we thought this merited a mention. Heck, the name alone gave us pause. “Aquawar”? As BRIGHTEST DAY barrels toward its grand finale, things heat up for one of the main protagonists and his supporting cast — it’s too early to get into details, but how about a look at the cover to February’s BRIGHTEST DAY #19 and the other key BRIGHTEST DAY titles and a few more clues below?

BRIGHTEST DAY #13 asks: Who will be the Earth’s protector?

High above the clouds of the Nth City on Hawkworld, Hawkman takes center stage, as he begins an all-out assault to save his beloved.

But back on Earth, who will the White Lantern ring choose as its bearer and, in turn, the protector of the planet? The last page will shock you.

All in an issue’s work from the all-pro team of Geoff Johns, Peter Tomasi, Ardian Syaf, Ivan Reis and Joe Prado.

BRIGHTEST DAY #13 arrives tomorrow.
