5.2 Reasons DC Entertainment is the Place to Be for SDCC

San Diego Comic-Con is upon us! It's a celebration of all things great—from comic books and movies to toys and video games and everything in between—but for comic fans especially, it's the chance to meet the makers, get access to exclusive items, and discover the latest news and announcements concerning your favorite heroes and titles. It's absolutely fan-tasmic! That's a word, right? That should be a word.

Not everyone can make it to this sold-out event. But worry not because DC Entertainment has you covered with nonstop Comic-Con coverage right here on DCComics.com—your "Con Away from Con!"

Whether braving the crowds in San Diego or enjoying it from home, we're giving you 5.2 Reasons DC Entertainment is the Place to Be for SDCC!

1. Exclusive Panel Coverage

One of the biggest draws of Comic-Con is the panels—like this year's Batman: Beyond the Night of the Owls panel or the Justice League and Green Lantern panel. Fans and creators alike gather to discuss what's currently happening and what's still to come in the DCU. And you can keep up-to-date on what's going on in almost every single one of them with LIVE panel coverage here in THE SOURCE. Even better, as the official DC recap, all of our panel coverage will include every photograph, piece of art or image shown during our panels!

2. #AskDCComics Fan Questions

Have you always wanted to ask Geoff Johns a question but haven't gotten the chance? Well, we're giving you that opportunity—and you don’t have to be at the show to take advantage. Throughout Comic-Con, we'll be conducting interviews with various creators—and we'll be asking them YOUR questions! Follow us on Twitter (@DCComics) for updates on who we'll be interviewing throughout the show and use #AskDCComics to tweet us your questions!

3. DC University

For the very first time, we’ll be hosting some special interviews with our artists in the DC Entertainment Booth (#1915). They'll be taking suggestions from the audience on what to draw while fielding questions on their latest projects, their favorite characters and much more! If you're at the show, keep your eye to the booth stage where these interviews will be taking place. If not, no problem! We'll be filming and posting them onto the site.

4. The Instant Super Fan Sweepstakes

Everyone loves swag. But getting said swag can be a little difficult. To make things easier and awesomer, we're holding a special sweepstakes open to both attendees and those at home via e-mail entry where the winner receives a collection of all of the best DC products, exclusives and giveaways from Comic-Con. Click here for everything you need to know about becoming an instant super fan.

5. 5.2 Questions

Our Comic-Con sister feature! Creators answer 5.2 Questions (natch)—but unlike DC University and our Twitter-fueled interviews, these questions are fun, informal and designed to shed some light on what sort of things your favorite writers and artists enjoy. Find out what Jim Lee's favorite late night snack is or Scott Snyder's first-ever comic book purchase!

Welcome to Your 2012 SDCC Con Away From Con

Hollywood has the Academy Awards. Football has the Super Bowl. But if you’re a comic book fan, one event towers above all others: San Diego Comic-Con. For four days and five nights, some of the biggest names in entertainment gather together to celebrate comic books, movies, TV, games and pop culture. DC Entertainment will be there in force with a large team of creators, a full slate of panels, a new booth, some great giveaways and much, much more.

Of course, we’d love for you to join us in the convention hall. But if you can’t make it, we have you covered with exclusive videos, panel recaps, photos and more as part of our Con Away From Con coverage. Plus, this year we’re giving you a chance to control the action. Follow us on Twitter (@DCComics), and keep an eye out for announcements about which artist or writer we’ll be interviewing next. When you see one, use the hashtag #AskDCComics to submit your questions for him or her. Then look for them to show up in our video interview!

C2E2 2012: DC Comics for Kids!

Who says you need to be a grown-up to read about super heroes? And while we're on the subject, who says you need to be a grown-up to BE a super hero? Some of the best comics on the racks today are for kids and about kids, and are finding an audience that includes more than a few...well, let's call them fully-grown kids. No matter your age, it's the last day of C2E2 and we're glad you're joining us for our live DC Comics for Kids CON AWAY FROM CON coverage.

Tiny Titans, the Eisner Award-winning comic by Art Baltazar and Franco was embraced by an audience that was anything but tiny. Now they're primed to release a brand new ongoing all-ages comic - Superman Family Adventures. Direct from the stage of room S402ab at McCormick Place, DC Entertainment's Ian Sattler is all set to lead a sure-to-be lively conversation with the pair about their work and what other DC comics for kids await on the brightly-lit horizon.

Like the books it's centered on, this panel is sure to be colorful! We invite you to follow it live below:

C2E2 2012: Vertigo - New Blood

Aliens, zombies, vampires, voodoo, goblins... The world of Vertigo has always been populated by some unique and often dangerous characters, but in March the publisher introduced us to some new creatures to keep our collective eyes on with the launch of four brand new comics. Curious about how they plan to follow such a stellar month? Look for the answer here in our live CON AWAY FROM CON panel coverage.

For readers whose tastes lean toward the edgy and imaginative, Vertigo has long been a destination of choice. With a current lineup that includes popular, long-running classics like Fables and Hellblazer, buzz books like American Vampire and Sweet Tooth, and attention-grabbing new releases like Saucer Country and Fairest, there is much to discuss - and announce - in their panel. Sharing the stage in room S401abc and ready to spill their guts (hopefully not literally, though the panel IS called "New Blood") are Senior Editor Will Dennis, Brian Azzarello (Spaceman, 100 Bullets), Sean Murphy (American Vampire and the newly announced Punk Rock Jesus), Scott Snyder (American Vampire) and Bill Willingham (Fables, Fairest).

Wondering which dark corridors the Vertigo team will be leading us down this year? Follow the panel live below:

C2E2 2012: DC All Access - Special Edition: Before Watchmen

Nothing gets people talking like Before Watchmen. For the first time in the company's history, DC is revisiting the world of Watchmen with a series of comics written by some of the best creators in the industry. Ready to revisit the world of Rorschach, Dr. Manhattan and Nite Owl? Well, unfortunately you'll have to wait until the start of Before Watchmen in June. But you're likely to get a taste of it in our live CON AWAY FROM CON coverage.

Gracing the stage of room S401abc in what's sure to be one of the most memorable and widely discussed panels at C2E2 are DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Dan DiDio, VP - Art Direction and Design Mark Chiarello, Senior Editor Will Dennis, Brian Azzarello (Before Watchmen: Rorschach), Lee Bermejo (Before Watchmen: Rorschach), Amanda Conner (Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre), Adam Hughes (Before Watchmen: Dr. Manhattan), J. Michael Straczynski (Before Watchmen: Nite Owl) and Len Wein (Before Watchmen: Ozymandias, Curse of the Crimson Corsair).

Looking for up-to-the-minute info on the Minutemen? Follow the panel as it takes place live below:

C2E2 2012: DC Comics - The New 52

The New 52 was the most talked about event in comics last year, and it's not hard to see why. Mainstream comic book publishers don't hit the reset button on every single one of their titles every day. Now, eight months into the initiative, some of DC's biggest creators are gathering to discuss The New 52 - Second Wave, and we're bringing it to you live as part of our CON AWAY FROM CON coverage.

The New 52 is changing. Some titles are ending while others are about to kick off. Grant Morrison is returning to Gotham with Batman, Incorporated. Bestselling fantasy novelist China Miéville is entering the world of ongoing comic books with Dial H. A pair of huge crossover events will shake things up in the Batman and Young Justice family of books. Gathering in room S401abc at McCormick Place, DC fans both young and old are primed to hear DCE Editor-in-Chief Bob Harras, Executive Editor Eddie Berganza, Chris Burnham (Batman, Incorporated), Patrick Gleason (Batman and Robin), Geoff Johns (Justice League, Green Lantern), Jimmy Palmiotti (All-Star Western) and Scott Snyder (Batman, Swamp Thing) talk about The New 52 of today and tomorrow.

Don't miss out on the latest on all your favorite DC comics. Follow the panel live below:

C2E2 2012: DC All Access

The New 52. Night of the Owls. The Culling. New ongoings. There's a lot happening in the world of DC, which means there's much to discuss, dissect and debate. Welcome to your live CON AWAY FROM CON coverage of DC Comics' All Access panel.

It's been an exciting year for DC with the launch of The New 52, and with The New 52 -  Second Wave on the horizon, things show no sign of slowing down. Some of the biggest creative forces on the DC roster are gathering in room S402ab at McCormick Place, ready to talk about where DC has been over the past twelve months and where the publisher is heading. Joining moderator John Cunningham onstage are DCE Editor-in-Chief Bob Harras, David Finch (Batman: The Dark Knight), Geoff Johns (Justice League, Green Lantern), Kevin Maguire (the upcoming Worlds' Finest) and Scott Snyder (Batman, Swamp Thing).

With this crew, there's no telling which direction the discussion will take, and you can follow the entire panel live below:

C2E2 2012: DC Collectibles (Formerly DC Direct)

It's been a huge week for the team formerly known as DC Direct. On Wednesday they revealed their new name - DC Collectibles - along with plans to expand their online store. They also announced two new online exclusive products and a new line of custom prints that will only be available through their website. For action figure fans, the DC Collectibles panel is likely to be one of the highlights of C2E2, and we're covering every moment of it as part of our CON AWAY FROM CON coverage. No matter what they've been called, DC Collectibles has long enjoyed a reputation as one of the finest producers of high quality collectibles in the direct market. It's a reputation that will only grow as the year rolls on with new products highlighting The New 52, Before Watchmen and much, much more. Onstage in room S402ab and ready to talk shop are DCE Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and Creative Services Director Jim Fletcher. What new busts, statues and action figures will be lining your cubicle walls this year? Find out live below:
