Get Ready to Buddy Up with Batman and Win a Set of T-Shirts

It’s a great summer to be a Batman fan. ”The Dark Knight Rises” hits theaters this week, concluding the exciting Batman movie series directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale. BATMAN: EARTH ONE, the exciting graphic novel by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank has set fans abuzz with its fresh interpretation of Batman’s origin. Scott Snyder rocked Comic-Con with teases about his upcoming Joker storyline. And gamers worldwide have been stepping into the virtual cowl with two dramatically different Gotham-set games: “LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes” and “Batman: Arkham City.”

We know none of this would be possible without you—the fans. So to celebrate, we thought we’d do what we do best and give away some cool stuff. Ecko Unlimited recently unveiled a new line of Batman shirts, and they graciously donated five unique sets for us to give away. They’re highly original, stylish and while they may not be recommended wear for a night of crimefighting, they’re perfect attire to wear while catching “The Dark Knight Rises” for the first or fifteenth time.

Here’s what you have to do to win. We want you to “buddy up” with Batman in some way shape or form and take a photo of it. It could be posing in front of a standee or poster for “The Dark Knight Rises” as you’re waiting to see it this weekend, kicking back while reading Gregg Hurwitz’s debut issue of Batman: The Dark Knight, showing off with your copy of Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition or sitting amongst your collection of Batman action figures, statues and busts from DC Collectibles. Creativity definitely counts, but the important thing is that it features you and Batman, and that it’s captured on digital film. Then send that picture to our Twitter account (@DCComics) using the hashtag #dccontest.

We'll pick five favorites on Monday based on originality and creativity, with each winner receiving a set of four different t-shirts in a variety of sizes. That’s guaranteed to make you the coolest guy or girl on the block among your fellow Batman (or Marc Ecko) fans.

You can check out the full line of t-shirts here on the Ecko Unlimited site. Take a gander, and then go buddy up with Batman for your chance to win a set of those sweet shirts for your very own.

DC COMICS PRESENTS “SUPERMAN ACROSS AMERICA”

SM_Cv700_ds.indd

Today, USA TODAY broke the exciting news about writer J. Michael Straczynski’s epic “Grounded” storyline running in SUPERMAN, and we’ve got more details about how you, the fans, can participate in the Man of Steel’s trek across the United States.

Starting in July 2010, coinciding with the 700th issue of Superman, DC Comics will be celebrating this remarkable anniversary of America’s greatest hero with a historic journey…not to alien worlds or distant galaxies, but through the streets, roads, highways, homes, farms, suburbs, and inner cities of America.

And America itself, in the person of those very real places, is invited to the party.

grounded1

Beginning with the city of Philadelphia, Superman will walk across America, a journey that is expected to take most of a year. He will pass through Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon and Washington. Along the way, Superman will be passing through real towns, real cities, real neighborhoods.

And your town, your city, your neighborhood may be among those chosen for his historic journey. Superman will literally pass through your town as visualized in the pages of his book.

grounded4

If your town is within 50 miles of the line marking Superman’s journey, then you are eligible to participate.

grounded3

If your town is chosen, then it will become part of an issue of the Superman comic. For over fifty years, Superman has been America’s greatest hero, and now he is returning to those roots. The series of issues will examine how Superman sees America, and how America sees Superman. And for those towns selected, it will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of his historic journey.

grounded2

Thanks, Joe! There you have it, folks. The power is in your hands. Do you have what it takes to get Superman to visit your town? In addition to an essay describing why Superman should visit, we highly recommend the inclusion of photos, information about how active a comic book and literary community your town has, and any other materials that would convince us that your town is an ideal place for Superman to visit and experience. Click below for the rules and legal requirements. And, most importantly, good luck!
