Spoiler Alert: October 3rd

It’s the first Wednesday of a fresh new month, and DC fans worldwide are heading to their favorite comic stores (or hopping online to the DC Digital Comics Store) to pick up this week’s new titles. But a wise man once said that fans cannot live on comics alone, and we like to live by that philosophy here on DCComics.com. So to offer you a little bit of variety on this lovely new comic book day, we’re kicking off a brand new edition of DC Collectibles’ Spoiler Alert.

If you missed out last month, here’s the way it works. Every day over the next week, we’ll be posting an image of a brand new statue, action figure or bust on the DC Collectibles Facebook page. The catch? It’s not a clear image. It’s an extreme close up of just one small part of the collectible. Once we’ve posted a new photo, you’re invited to comment with your guesses as to what it might be, and encouraged to come back tomorrow for a new piece. (Just don’t look to the image’s filename to help you this time, you sneaky cats! We’ve caught on to that little trick. ;) )

And with that, let’s get to the guessing! Here’s your first image…

Any idea what it may be? Feel free to offer up your guess below in the comments section. Then be sure to “like” DC Collectibles on Facebook for further glimpses of the statue and for the full reveal on Tuesday, October 9th.

DC Collectibles Reveals New York Comic Con "Con Exclusives"

MTV Geek got the first look at how DC Collectibles is gearing up for New York Comic Con. The high-end toy and collectible line from DC Entertainment  revealed two exciting new “con exclusive” products that will only be available for sale to New York Comic-Con attendees.

First up is the Aardman Batman Action Figure designed by Rich Webber and sculpted by Phil Ramirez.  Based on the popular interstitial shorts shown during the DC Nation programming block on Cartoon Network, this unique take on the caped crusader was created by the British brains behind the film “Wallace & Gromit.”  Aardman Batman is $25.

The other con exclusive continues DC Collectibles’ popular 3.75” two-pack action figure line that launched at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year.  New York will feature DC Comics’ characters John Stewart and Atrocitus, on sale for $25.

Stop by Graphitti Designs booth #939 at New York Comic-Con to purchase your con exclusives from DC Collectibles.

Caption This! The Joker Black and White

Welcome, friends and fans, to CAPTION THIS! from DC Collectibles, a new monthly feature here on DCComics.com.

If a picture alone is worth a thousand words, then what about a caption? Truly great captions speak volumes in just a few, perfectly chosen words. Writing captions is a talent. A skill. In fact, it may just be the last truly unsung artform.

Or maybe it’s just a fun chance to have some of the most popular characters in the DC Universe say some of the most ridiculous things imaginable. Every month, we’ll be posting a new image prepared by the good folks at DC Collectibles for the sole purpose of inspiring some of the craziest, silliest, wittiest captions from some of the most imaginative and fun people in the world: the DC fans!

Write your caption in the comments field, share it on Facebook, tweet it on Twitter, tattoo it on your dog (eh…well, maybe not that). In short, proclaim it to the world. But most important, have fun. Your first photo, featuring the new Batman: Black and White Joker statue is below:

So…can you Caption This?

Spoiler Alert: September 5th

Wednesday means a lot of different things around here. It’s our day for new comic books, a new SDCC giveaway in THE SOURCE and of course the infamous Sloppy Joe Special at the diner down the street. But starting today, Wednesday is also your day for something fun from DC Collectibles. In the weeks ahead, we’ll be unveiling a series of cool new features every Wednesday here on DCComics.com—all different and all geared to get you excited about some of the great new action figures, statues and busts in shops or on the horizon from DC Collectibles.

We’re starting things off today with SPOILER ALERT. Below you’ll find a small piece of an upcoming new statue…

Any idea what it may be? Feel free to offer up your guess below in the comments section. Then be sure to “like” DC Collectibles on Facebook for further glimpses of the statue and for the full reveal on Tuesday, September 11th!

5.2 Reasons to Fill Your Homes with DC Collectibles

Being a nerdy, pop-culture obsessed person comes with certain proclivities—quoting famous movies ("SWEAR TO ME!"), keeping up with the latest comic book, entertainment and video game news on the Interwebs (Catwoman joins INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US!), arguing about who would beat who in a fight (Vibe, always), and collecting a whole lot of sweet, sweet tchotchkes.

Toys. Statues. Prints. Mugs. Plushies. iPhone cases. Stickers. Sneakers. Hoodies. T-Shirts. Purses. Wallets. The list goes on and on when it comes to the types of things we can surround ourselves with in every single aspect of our lives. Just take a look at this:

That's just part of our office. You don't want to see our homes (We don't want to end up on "Hoarders"). But the truth remains, we love letting our nerd flag fly—and we're hoping you do, too. So, we're giving you 5.2 Reasons to Fill Your Homes with DC Collectibles!

1. Archival Prints

Sweet Mary Marvel, look at these things! One of the newest arrivals to the DC Collectibles family of awesome stuff, these prints invoke a certain simplistic classiness in their design, making them ideal for home décor. We could seriously rave about them forever, but we'll let a few speak for themselves:

2. Ame-Comi

They're cute, beautifully designed, and fantastically anime-esque. These figures look undeniably gorgeous, but it’s the little, delightfully creative details that really sell them. Jade using her powers to make lantern-looking headphones, Mera's dress extending to a mermaid-ian finish, the awesomeness goes on and on. Check 'em out:

3. Batman: Black and White

Batman: Black and White was originally a back-up strip that ran in BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHTS. Each story was written and drawn by different creators—which allowed for various takes on the Dark Knight. The same principle extends here. Because of this line, we get access to Batman statues based on the art of Dawyn Cooke, Lee Bermejo, Dustin Nguyen and more!

4. Action Figures

We totally don't act out our favorite storylines (and our own DCU fan-fiction adventures) with toys. Nope. Not at all... Now if you'll excuse us for a moment, Arkham City Batman is about to throw down with New 52 Superman in a match refereed by Red Son Wonder Woman. It's going to be awesome.

5. Cover Girls of the DC Universe

Similar to Batman: Black and White but with, you know, cover girls, the series takes cover images by some of the best in the biz and makes them into statues. Adam Hughes opened the line (because, well, ADAM HUGHES!) and it has since expanded to brand new designs based on the costumes of The New 52.

5.1 DC Collectibles’ New System Of Measurement

5.2 What the Future Still Holds

And speaking of the future, be sure to check out the DC Entertainment Shop for more rad merch and keep an eye on DCComics.com and THE SOURCE in the coming weeks for a whole slate of fun new features and content from DC Collectibles. It’ll be kicking off the first week of September. Don’t miss out!
