Check Out Your Kid's Art

Have you seen all the fine super hero drawings by kids on DC Comics Fan Family? These little artists are pretty handy with the felt-tips. Are your kids' favorites here?

Click through the gallery, and maybe it'll inspire your child's creativity. We encourage you to share their art with other DC Comics Fan Family readers.

We're looking for works in pen and ink, pencil, paint, crayon, and any 2-D media. How about images created on a tablet or phone? And we'd love to see photos of kids' sculptures in clay, pipe-cleaners, or any other 3-D materials.

You may have seen our "Fan Page" features in print in books like Tiny Titans and Superman Family Adventures -- we've been sharing our youngest fans’ art for years. Now that we've launched DC Comics Fan Family, we're psyched to share their DC character artwork online too.

Here are a few things to know before you send in these priceless masterpieces:

  • We ask that you include your child’s first name, age, city, state, or country.

  • We accept high-quality scans, JPEGs, GIFs, and photographs.

  • We’ll showcase as many submissions as we can each week.

  • We will not notify you directly if your child's art is featured (sorry!), so we encourage you to check back weekly and see. Bring the kids ... they might get inspired!

  • Pictures of your child should not be included in any photographs that you submit.

  • Finally, from our legal team:

All letters, photos, art and other materials submitted to us may be edited, translated (if applicable), and published by DC Comics and our licensees online and in any DC Comics publication in any media, along with the submitter’s first name, hometown, state or country. Also note that if your submission includes any original concepts, designs, or elements, and, if by some chance DC Comics or any of our licensees use the same or similar ones in the future, you will not be compensated or credited. Thanks.

Free Super Hero Paper Toys

Here’s a new kind of printable: ultra-simple paper toys that fold into boxy versions of DC Comics super heroes. You just print, cut, and assemble them by folding and taping. Or gluing. No coloring needed -- they’re already pre-colored. Remember to set the printer for color. Everyone loves these minimalist creations: They’re cute enough for kids and design-y enough for geeks. And you can even mix and match the parts if you don’t attach them. (Don’t tell anyone we said that!)

ANNOUNCING DC ENTERTAINMENT'S WonderCon Anaheim EXCLUSIVES

With WonderCon Anaheim just a few short weeks away, it’s time to announce the con exclusives.

If you haven’t already heard, this year, the official WonderCon Anaheim convention T-shirt features an iconic image of Superman drawn by Jim Lee, DC Entertainment Co-Publisher and artist of this summer’s new series SUPERMAN UNCHAINED written by Scott Snyder. This art is also featured on the cover of the official convention Program Book.

Here’s a first look at the t-shirt!

DCE’s WonderCon Anaheim exclusive variant covers envelop two of DC Comics’ most popular series! Priced at $10 each, the BATMAN #17 and JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #1 variant covers are must-have collector’s items.

Illustrated by fan favorite artist Greg Capullo, the WonderCon Anaheim cover for BATMAN #17, written by Scott Snyder, takes the popular die-cut covers from “Death of the Family” and brings them back one last time for the epic final issue. The cover depicts The Joker’s face folded over Bruce Wayne’s, with purple background, to create a lasting impression while representing the ground breaking crossover which featured the Clown Prince of Crime’s triumphant return to DC COMICS—THE NEW 52.

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #1, the newly launched ongoing series written by Geoff Johns, arrives with a new variant to complete your collection of now over 52 covers for the issue. Like the other covers drawn by series artist David Finch, the WonderCon Anaheim exclusive cover shows key members of the JLA raising the U.S. flag in color, while the other members of the team stand watch in a black and white background.

And the DC Collectibles WonderCon Anaheim exclusives featuring Green Lantern’s Guy Gardner and Larfleeze and DC Nation’s Aardman Batman & Robin were announced on Monday. Click here for the full details.

WonderCon Anaheim takes place March 29-31 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. To purchase the T-shirt, variant covers, and DC Collectibles exclusives, head on over to the DC Collectibles Boutique at the Graphitti Designs booth (#1001), where they will be available while supplies last. And visit the DC Entertainment booth (#801) to meet some of your favorite writers and artists.

Hope to see you there!

An Updated Experience...

A year ago, we launched new websites for DC Comics, Vertigo and MAD Magazine. Since then, you’ve been sharing your thoughts and opinions with us by leaving comments on the three sites, reaching out to us through our contact form, speaking to us at conventions, sending us smoke signals and carrier pigeons… Pretty much any way possible. Most of what we’ve been hearing is great, but we’ve realized for a while that there’s room for improvement, and you can look for the first round of those improvements today.

The first thing you’ll notice is our updated navigation. We’ve reordered the links based on your feedback and have made some changes to our blog that should help you find what you’re looking for much more efficiently.

Starting today, the “Blog” tab which used to be a part of our navigation bar is now a “News” tab that will serve as the home for all of our posts. If you’re looking for 5.2 Reasons, DC Week-In-Review, Preview Monday or other features that are more editorial in nature, you can find them under “For Fans.” If you’re interested in breaking news, announcements, press releases and articles that are largely informational, look for them under “For Press.” And if you’re seeking out fun DC Comics-themed features aimed at parents and families, you’ll find them in our newest section, “For Family,” which is the home of our brand new DC Comics Fan Family blog.

We invite and encourage you to explore and familiarize yourself with these new enhancements, but please bear with us if you find any bugs or anything that doesn’t seem to be working correctly. We’re working to perfect and continually improve your experience, but we ask you to “pardon our dust” over the next few weeks as we get all of these enhancements fully in place.

Explore and enjoy. We look forward to hearing what you think, and remember…this is just the beginning.

A FANtastic Moment...

Superman has defeated villains like Lex Luthor and Brainiac, survived his home planet’s destruction and kept ours safe from harm for over eighty years. Batman has defeated armies of undead assassins, kept some of the most destructive criminals in check and fought otherworldly threats alongside the Justice League—and he does all this without super powers.

And yet, neither of them could have achieved their most recent accomplishments on their own. They needed each and every one of you.

This week, Batman passed 8 million likes on his official Facebook page. Superman passed 4 million. And DC Comics hit the 1 million mark.

We wanted to celebrate these great accomplishments by celebrating the people who made them possible—the fans. Today, the cover photo on all three Facebook pages has been updated with new art commemorating the milestone and thanking the fans for making it possible.

Batman

Superman

DC Comics

But that’s just the start. Throughout this week and beyond, keep an eye out for this logo:

We’ll be using it to flag special “FANtastic Moments” on all three Facebook pages and right here on DCComics.com. Some of these will be posts, photo galleries, articles and other great content driven by fans. Some will be giveaways and cool stuff that we’ve put together for our fans as a thank you for helping us hit these milestones.

In fact, you can find your very first FANtastic Moment right here! In honor of Batman reaching 8 million, we’re offering a free digital download of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s BATMAN #1 for the next 24 hours.

If you want it, just follow this link: www.readdcentertainment.com/redeem

And enter this code: #BAT8MILLION

Enjoy your free comic and thanks a million (8 million!) for being such great fans.
