DC ENTERTAINMENT's C2E2 Lineup

Fans of DC Comics, Vertigo and MAD who are headed to C2E2 in the windy city of Chicago this April have a lot to be excited about.

DC Entertainment’s vast array of activities this year includes panels, announcements, give-aways, sponsorships, ads in the program guide, and of course, exclusives.

As you may already know, famed DC Comics artist Tony S. Daniel (ACTION COMICS) has drawn the powerful image of Superman flying over the Chicago skyline that is being used on the official C2E2 poster and in advertising.

DC Comics’ C2E2 exclusive variant covers envelop three of our most popular series! Priced at $10 each, ACTION COMICS #19 with art by Tony S. Daniel, BATMAN #17 with art by Greg Capullo, and JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #1 with art by David Finch.

The DC Collectibles C2E2 exclusives featuring Green Lantern’s Guy Gardner and Larfleeze and DC Nation’s Aardman Batman & Robin were announced earlier this month.

All of DC Entertainment’s convention exclusives are sold at the Graphitti Designs/DC Boutique at booth #818.

In addition, DC Fan Family will be sponsoring key Kid’s Day programming and DC Entertainment will be distributing an array of kids comic books to children throughout Kid’s Day on Sunday.

And if you happen to be headed to the convention at McCormick Place and you see a bus wrapped in Justice League artwork by Jim Lee, take a picture and more importantly, hop on. DC Entertainment video highlights will be playing and comic books will be handed out as you enter.

Not to mention, some of the most prominent DC Entertainment writers and artists in the industry will be appearing at the show including; local Chicagoans Brian Azzarello, Tony Daniel and Chris Burnham along with talent from across the country and, in some instances the world, including, Peter J. Tomasi, James Tynion IV, Justin Jordan, Pat Gleason, John Layman, Doug Mahnke, Jimmy Palmiotti, Joe Prado, Ray Fawkes, Freddie Williams II, Art Baltazar and Franco.

Though DC Entertainment won't have a presence on the show floor, we will still be making a splash at C2E2. You can meet many of our key talent and get your comics signed in the C2E2 Autographing Area or listen to them as they take the stage during the following panels:

ANNOUNCING DC ENTERTAINMENT'S WonderCon Anaheim EXCLUSIVES

With WonderCon Anaheim just a few short weeks away, it’s time to announce the con exclusives.

If you haven’t already heard, this year, the official WonderCon Anaheim convention T-shirt features an iconic image of Superman drawn by Jim Lee, DC Entertainment Co-Publisher and artist of this summer’s new series SUPERMAN UNCHAINED written by Scott Snyder. This art is also featured on the cover of the official convention Program Book.

Here’s a first look at the t-shirt!

DCE’s WonderCon Anaheim exclusive variant covers envelop two of DC Comics’ most popular series! Priced at $10 each, the BATMAN #17 and JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #1 variant covers are must-have collector’s items.

Illustrated by fan favorite artist Greg Capullo, the WonderCon Anaheim cover for BATMAN #17, written by Scott Snyder, takes the popular die-cut covers from “Death of the Family” and brings them back one last time for the epic final issue. The cover depicts The Joker’s face folded over Bruce Wayne’s, with purple background, to create a lasting impression while representing the ground breaking crossover which featured the Clown Prince of Crime’s triumphant return to DC COMICS—THE NEW 52.

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #1, the newly launched ongoing series written by Geoff Johns, arrives with a new variant to complete your collection of now over 52 covers for the issue. Like the other covers drawn by series artist David Finch, the WonderCon Anaheim exclusive cover shows key members of the JLA raising the U.S. flag in color, while the other members of the team stand watch in a black and white background.

And the DC Collectibles WonderCon Anaheim exclusives featuring Green Lantern’s Guy Gardner and Larfleeze and DC Nation’s Aardman Batman & Robin were announced on Monday. Click here for the full details.

WonderCon Anaheim takes place March 29-31 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. To purchase the T-shirt, variant covers, and DC Collectibles exclusives, head on over to the DC Collectibles Boutique at the Graphitti Designs booth (#1001), where they will be available while supplies last. And visit the DC Entertainment booth (#801) to meet some of your favorite writers and artists.

Hope to see you there!

DC ENTERTAINMENT REVEALS NEW BRAND IDENTITY

New identity designed to showcase DC Entertainment’s rich portfolio of brands, stories and characters across all media platforms. BURBANK, CA, January 19, 2012 – DC Entertainment, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company and home to iconic brands DC Comics, Vertigo and MAD, revealed today a new brand identity.  The new identity is reflective of the company's mission to fully realize the value of a rich portfolio of brands, stories and characters, distinguished by incredible breadth and depth across publishing, media and merchandise.  A new logo for DC Comics was also introduced, closely aligning with DC Entertainment's new mark.

"It's a new era at DC Entertainment and the new look reflects a dynamic, bold approach while at the same time celebrates the company's rich heritage and robust portfolio of characters," stated John Rood, EVP of Sales, Marketing and Business Development for DC Entertainment. "It was just a few months ago that Superman, Batman and many of our other Super Heroes were updated when we launched DC Comics - The New 52 and now it's time to do the same for the company's identity while remaining true to the power of storytelling which is still at the heart of DC Entertainment."

DC Entertainment worked with Landor Associates, one of the world's leading brand consulting and design firms, to develop an identity that creates a visual connection among the company, its three brands DC Comics, Vertigo and MAD and its vast array of properties as well as celebrates the power of the company's stories and characters.  The design of the new DC Entertainment identity uses a "peel" effect - the D is strategically placed over the C with the upper right-hand portion of the D peeling back to unveil the hidden C - symbolizing the duality of the iconic characters that are present within DC Entertainment's portfolio.

"It was our goal to capture DC Entertainment in a dynamic and provocative identity.  Our solution is a living expression which changes and adapts to the characters, story lines and the ways fans are consuming content," explains Nicolas Aparicio, Executive Creative Director at Landor's San Francisco office.  "The new identity is built for the digital age, and can easily be animated and customized to take full advantage of the interactivity offered across all media platforms."

The new brand identity will come to life across all consumer touch points in order to create a clear and consistent message in support of DC Entertainment.  The new identity will begin to appear on comic books and graphic novels as well as new websites in March.  Consumers will also see the new identity rolled out over time on other DC Entertainment products from Warner Bros. including film, television, interactive games and merchandise.

"We believe our new brand identity will strongly resonate with our loyal fans who will want to proudly express their affinity for DC Entertainment and their passion for their favorite stories and characters, this new look allows them to easily do this. In addition we were excited to update our identity, it's not often a company gets to revisit something as important as its brand and we took the opportunity to make sure it represented the multi-media business we set out to build with the formation of DC Entertainment," said Amit Desai, SVP of Franchise Management for DC Entertainment.
