A first look at TITANS #24

Later this year, the TITANS ongoing series returns, courtesy of writer Eric Wallace and artist Fabrizio Fiorentino, with a new direction. Fans got a sense of how ruthless Deathstroke's team of mercenaries could be in the pages of the TITANS: VILLAINS FOR HIRE SPECIAL #1, but who else is on their radar?

We caught up with Mr. Wallace for some info on what's coming up in TITANS #24 and beyond. Take it away, Eric.

"Osiris's destiny is closely intertwined with that of Deathstroke and these all-new Titans. As readers will see starting in Titans #24 & #25, the choices Osiris is confronted with and the resulting decisions he ultimately makes will change his destiny forever. It's the beginning of a very intense journey for the character, one that may shock people. And it will have tremendous implications for the entire Marvel family."

Get a first look at Fabrizio Fiorentino's TITANS artwork

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, but one of the coolest parts of my job is being able to swing by editorial and see new pages as they come in. Just last night, I swung by TITANS Editor Brian Cunningham's base of operations to get a glimpse of artist Fabrizio Fiorentino's TITANS: VILLAINS FOR HIRE work. And, not only does the artwork look amazing, but there were also some shocking story beats in the issue as well, courtesy of writer Eric Wallace. But we're not going to spoil those here. Instead, let's all gather round as the week comes to a close and scope out some of these images. What say you, Brian?

“This is Fabrizio’s first time drawing some core DC characters, and he is hitting it out of the park. I really feel TITANS will take people by surprise by how good it is. I can’t wait to see people’s reactions to the Osiris parts of the series that tie back into BRIGHTEST DAY. Some crazy moments are going to happen!”

I can vouch for the crazy. Until then, here's some TITANS goodness.

READ BATMAN AND ROBIN #10 and JL: RISE AND FALL SPECIAL with Jim Lee and Geoff Johns

BMROB Cv10 ds

It’s that time again, folks.

We had such a fun time talking FIRST WAVE #1 on Twitter last week that it was a no-brainer to do it again. This time, there are two issues on the table: Writer Grant Morrison and new artist Andy Clarke’s BATMAN AND ROBIN #10 and the JUSTICE LEAGUE: RISE AND FALL SPECIAL, by writer J.T. Krul and artists Diogenes Neves, Mike Mayhew and Fabrizio Fiorentino.

JLRFS Cv1 VAR.indd

So here’s the deal: Swing by your local comic shop, pick up those two comics (and anything else that strikes your fancy) and sign in to Twitter today at 6:30pm EST to chat with Jim Lee and Geoff Johns about the issues as we all read ‘em together. Don’t have a Twitter account? No worries. Signing up is easy.

And don't forget to hashtag your posts with "#DCreader" to help everyone keep tabs on the conversation.

See you then!

Take a look inside the JUSTICE LEAGUE: RISE AND FALL SPECIAL

The aftershocks of Green Arrow's actions at the end of JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRY FOR JUSTICE are only beginning to be felt, as the heroic community that includes Ollie's teammates begin to discover just how far the Emerald Archer went. How can Green Arrow face his friends after taking justice into his own hands? Find out here, courtesy of writer J.T. Krul and an all-star art crew including Mike Mayhew, Diogenes Neves and Fabrizio Fiorentino.

JUSTICE LEAGUE: RISE AND FALL SPECIAL hits 3/10.

GREEN ARROW EDITOR ADAM SCHLAGMAN TALKS RISE AND FALL

But before we pass the mic to Adam, let me dust off ye olde Spoiler Warning: Do not click below until you've read the final issue of JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRY FOR JUSTICE.

Done? What a finale, huh?

OK, take it away, Adam:

301

In JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRY FOR JUSTICE #7 Green Arrow murdered Prometheus -- but it's not over yet! With his city lying in devastation, his former sidekick dismembered and his granddaughter dead, the Emerald Archer continues to seek out his own brand of Justice from those responsible for the tragedies that have befallen him.

jlrfs-cv1-fpo

Hitting stores March 10th, JUSTICE LEAGUE: RISE & FALL SPECIAL #1 showcases Ollie embracing his role as a hunter. Green Arrow's a protector -- but what happens when you fail as hero? Ollie's always been a man of the people, the first one to speak up. Now he's saying enough is enough and is taking matters into his own hands.

J.T. Krul (Blackest Night: Titans) is a fast-rising DC superstar writer that really understands our characters, their motivations and their beliefs. He is one of the architects behind the RISE AND FALL event, weaving the SPECIAL, which serves as a launching point for the event, with the help of the immensely talented Mike Mayhew (Blackest Night: Tales of the Corps), Diogenes Neves (Black Lantern Green Arrow) and Fabrizio Fiorentino (Titans: Villains for Hire).

ga-cv31-fpo

But the hunter becomes the hunted in GREEN ARROW #31 on sale March 17th, as the FALL OF GREEN ARROW begins. I personally guarantee that Ollie's life will be drastically changed following these two issues, as the Justice League of America comes after the Emerald Archer. What are the World's Greatest Heroes' thoughts on becoming judge, jury and executioner? The Flash (Barry Allen) once killed Zoom, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) went insane when his city was destroyed and what does Black Canary, his wife, believe is just? Find out in this engrossing tale told by J.T. Krul and up-and-coming artist Federico Dallocchio (Faces of Evil: Prometheus).

riseofarsenal1arevision2

JUSTICE LEAGUE: THE RISE OF ARSENAL is a four issue miniseries penned by J.T. Krul and drawn by Geraldo Borges that starts on March 24th. Roy Harper's lost his arm, his daughter and now a chance at revenge. What does Red Arrow think of his former mentor's killing spree, and what dark path is he journeying toward that even his friends and teammates won't be able to prevent?

jla-cv43-fpo

James Robinson, the brains behind Cry For Justice, with artist extraordinaire Mark Bagley (Trinity) brings the Rise and Fall to the JLA in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #43, being released on March 31st. When word of Ollie's murder reaches the current league, will they take up arms with Ollie or will they put him in handcuffs? The JLA reaches another turning point as the guilt from freeing Prometheus reaches critical mass.

DCU IN 2010: MORE ON BRIGHTEST DAY: TITANS

deathstroke

AS: One of the titles that a lot of people have been asking about of late is TITANS. I know that we have a new creative team hitting soon. What can you tell us about that?

DD: TITANS is another series that will fall directly under BRIGHTEST DAY, with Eric Wallace and Fabrizio Fiorentino coming on board, starting with the TITANS: VILLAINS FOR HIRE SPECIAL and then the regular series. We loved the work the two of them did on INK, so we’re excited to see them build a new team of Titans, under the leadership of none other than Deathstroke, the Terminator.

Who the members are and how they affect the original Titans is a major part of the DCU’s story for 2010.

AS: Come on, Dan. You woke me up at 6 a.m. for this. Can you drop a few clues as to the roster?

DD: Don't see why not. Seeing as how the creative team is coming off a great mini-series like INK, it’s not a surprise that the Tattooed Man will be a member of Deathstroke’s Titans team.

AS: One more?

DD: Well, it wouldn’t be much of a Deathstroke team if there wasn’t a femme fatale in the mix, and we’ve definitely got one – with ties to the original Titans, to boot – in Cheshire. We’ll save the full roster for a later date.

AS: Fair enough. Readers, I’m starving, so I’m going to grab a quick lunch, but come back to The Source in about an hour for another bit of BRIGHTEST DAY news.

THAT JUST HAPPENED: FINAL CRISIS AFTERMATH: INK #6

Well, as we promised yesterday, we're back. How 'bout those last two pages of FINAL CRISIS AFTERMATH: INK? Cool, huh? Writer Eric Wallace and artist Fabrizio Fiorentino did a great job of ending the mini-series with a bang -- an unexpected one at that, too.

And if you've been paying attention to our very own Dan DiDio's interviews of late, those pages give a clear sense of what the future holds for our hero the Tattooed Man.

Wait, you haven't read the issue yet? Yeesh. Well, we'll wait here a sec so you can go buy it and come back.

Done? Great. Now you can click below and see the pages we're talking about. Things just got very interesting...

[gallery link="file"]

It's the end of the line for FINAL CRISIS AFTERMATH: INK

It's the end of the line, as secrets are revealed and the true threat to Liberty Hill and the Tattooed Man is unveiled in this final chapter of the mini, from the incoming TITANS creative team of writer Eric Wallace and artist Fabrizio Fiorentino. Learn the true meaning of heroism and find out just what the DCU has in store for TM.

Also, make a point to swing back tomorrow morning for a glimpse at the startling conclusion to this very issue. Right after you buy it, of course.

FINAL CRISIS AFTERMATH: INK #6 hits today.
