Here’s a round up of the exclusive previews from this week’s DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 releases, on sale tomorrow.

USA TODAY has a sneak peek at BATWOMAN #6, which kicks off a new story arc for the series and serves as the debut issue of artist Amy Reeder. In the new story arc, readers will be introduced to Maro, a villain who according to series co-writer W. Haden Blackman, “represents a more dangerous supernatural threat than Batwoman has yet faced.” And in case you missed it on Friday, be sure to also check out USA TODAY’s exclusive preview of the Hunt for Harley Quinn with SUICIDE SQUAD #6 and interview with series writer Adam Glass.

"I really liked the idea of taking these monsters, who are normally portrayed as wild forces of destruction, and really getting under their skin, finding out what made them rage and where their rage might lead them (and) making them individual," series writer Peter Milligan said of the Red Lantern Corps.

COMIC BOOK RESOURCES posted the first five pages of ACTION COMICS #6, NEWSARAMA debuted a sequence from BATWING #6, COMICVINE has your first look at HAWK AND DOVE #6 and IFANBOY previewed STATIC SHOCK #6.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY ran the first five pages of JUSTICE LEAGUE #5 on their homepage.

On Friday, we told you about Batman’s appearance in I, VAMPIRE #5. USA TODAY chatted with series writer Joshua Hale Fialkov to accompany their exclusive preview of the issue. "Andrew has everything under control except for the crazy guy in the bat suit," Fialkov said of the series’ protagonist. "It adds a nice level of chaos for the characters to have to deal with."

Meanwhile, POPMATTERS showed pages from THE SAVAGE HAWKMAN #5 and WIRED’s GEEKDAD previewed AQUAMAN #5. IGN has your first look at THE FLASH #5. GAWKER’s KOTAKU debuted a sequence from BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT #5 and GAWKER’s IO9 has a glance at TEEN TITANS #5. Here’s a round up of exclusive previews from the third round of fifth issues from DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, on sale tomorrow.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY had an exclusive preview of BATMAN #5, and USA TODAY had a first look at NIGHTWING #5, featuring an interview with writer Kyle Higgins. Higgins laid out a key distinction between Gotham’s heroes, saying that "the difference between Dick and Bruce has always been that Bruce does what he does out of this sense of guilt and this feeling he has to. And Dick Grayson does what he does because he genuinely enjoys helping people. He's a much more empathetic character and he's someone who enjoys people and interaction.” MTV GEEK ran a sneak peek at RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #5, NEWSARAMA ran a first look at BIRDS OF PREY #5 and pages from CATWOMAN #5 were featured on the DC COMICS FACEBOOK PAGE.

Beyond the BATMAN books, GAWKER’S KOTAKU had an exclusive preview of WONDER WOMAN #5, IGN offered a first look at CAPTAIN ATOM #5, SUPERGIRL #5 was featured on WIRED’S GEEK DAD and POPMATTERS showcased a sequence from DC UNIVERSE PRESENTS #5.

USA TODAY ran an exclusive preview of SUPERBOY #5 and interviewed series writer Scott Lobdell. “He doesn't understand right and wrong because it's not even in his field of vision. He doesn't have anything to go on," Lobdell said of the series’ eponymous protagonist.

Batman Facebook Page Tops 2 Million

Not only did we ring in a new year recently but we also hit an important milestone: Our Batman Facebook page crossed the 2 million Likes mark. More than 2 million people have signaled that they are fans of the Caped Crusader, a sentiment we whole-heartedly agree with.

It’s no surprise that so many people feel this way. BATMAN continues to be one of the most popular comic characters ever created, with top-selling and popular books BATMAN, DETECTIVE COMICS, BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT and BATMAN AND ROBIN leading the way. And with CATWOMAN, BATWING, BATGIRL and BATWOMAN rounding out the BATMAN family – the whole line is really on a tear, backed by some of the best creative talent in the industry including Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Tony Daniel, and David Finch, among many others.

All this combined with the huge amount of anticipation for this summer’s theatrical release of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, and the recent critical acclaim and blockbuster sales of the BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY video game, it’s no wonder we crossed the 2 million mark.

To help kick off 2012, here's a round up of exclusive previews from the first round of fifth issues from DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, on sale tomorrow.

ACTION COMICS # 5, written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Andy Kubert and Jesse Delperdang, depict's Kal-El's escape from Krypton, and offers a new twist on this iconic sequence which we're seeing for the first time in DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. WIRED ran the exclusive preview of the issue on their homepage, with a preview that was shared between their GEEKDAD and UNDERWIRE blogs.

USA TODAY previewed ANIMAL MAN #5 and interviewed series writer Jeff Lemire. "They don't want her put into harm's way," Lemire said of Buddy and Ellen and their powerful daughter, Maxine. "It's really that tension of knowing that they may have to give her up and the greater good might be something that they have to consider rather than just being a family, and whether or not they're willing to do that is going to cause a lot of tension in their marriage and a lot of tension just thematically moving forward."

GAWKER’s KOTAKU debuted five pages from DETECTIVE COMICS #5 and GAWKER’s IO9 has your first look at BATWING #5. On Wednesday, we kick off the fourth issues of DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. Previews of the various issues being released have been running for the past few days across the Internet and we’ve compiled them all here on THE SOURCE for your convenience.

USA TODAY interviewed BATWING writer Judd Winick to accompany their exclusive preview of issue #4. “It's almost as if he didn't have any choice," Winick explained of Batwing’s origins, which are revealed in this week’s issue. “Fate and destiny got together and you survived this horror, but now what are you going to do with it? There's this horrible thing that fuels you — how do you make it count?”

The Green is at war! But without Alec Holland on their side, do they stand a fighting chance? Find out in SWAMP THING #4, previewed exclusively at ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY.

AIN’T IT COOL NEWS chatted with DETECTIVE COMICS writer/artist Tony Daniel. “The Doll Maker is kind of like a twisted reflection of Batman, where his father was taken and he went the other route where in his own mind he wanted to do some good,” Daniel revealed to them. “They have two different philosophies, but there are some similarities in their scenario, but are in two completely opposite directions.” Read the full interview for an exclusive preview of issue #4.

Everyone’s Talkin’ About DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, Monday Afternoon (ET) Edition

It’s hard to believe that DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 is already getting ready to kick off its fourth month. “There is no denying that the initiative actually got people excited about comics again, and sent them into the comics stores,” MTV GEEK wrote of DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, which took the top spot on their list of “Best Geek Moments of 2011.”

But before we start getting ready for the fourth issues, we’ve still got a week’s worth of third issues coming at you this Wednesday. Check out some of the exclusive previews of this week’s books that recently ran.

USA TODAY interviewed BLACKHAWKS writer Mike Costa and previewed issue #3. “It's coming from a more evolutionary place where technology is changing the way we live our lives and eventually it's going to become so integrated with us as people,” Costa said of the series. “People feel like, well, we're grafted to our phones right now, but there'll come a day where we actually literally are, and the people who live in Bespoke have already taken that leap. The idea is that they got there first but we're all on our way there. They're trying to accelerate that process, and is that a good or bad thing?”

POPMATTERS has your first look at Jonah Hex's continuing adventures in Gotham City with their exclusive preview of ALL-STAR WESTERN #3.

Everyone’s Talkin’ About DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, Monday Evening (PT) Edition

Ever since we launched DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, we’ve been trying to find the perfect outlet to post each exclusive preview. What better match, then, is there for BATMAN AND ROBIN than WIRED’s GEEKDAD? Head on over to their website to see an amazing 6-page sequence from issue #3, which is all about the tension between Bruce Wayne and his son, Damian.

USA TODAY previewed RESURRECTION MAN #3 and spoke with series writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. "His mortal soul is in jeopardy in a much greater way. The stakes are much higher than simply life or death," Abnett told them. “There are serious repercussions about heaven and hell and what these supernatural powers are interested in. That's really going to play out the next few issues where you've got forces both mortal and immortal fighting over him because he is so important."

LOS ANGELES TIMES’ HERO COMPLEX spoke with the acclaimed creative team behind WONDER WOMAN, Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang. “We’re striving for something that speaks to a certain timelessness but at the same time doesn’t get bogged down with older notions of the Greek gods,” Chiang said of the series. “We’ve done away with togas and sandals and stuff like that in order to make you look at them with new eyes. We want the characters to look and sound different, we want them to act different than you would expect … The fact that all of the Greek myths are really rooted in human behavior is great.”

IGN spoke with NIGHTWING writer Kyle Higgins about the Gotham hero. “He grew up a sidekick, studying under the best, then left to spread his proverbial ‘wings’ but ultimately came back to take his mentor's place,” Higgins said. “In a medium where change is hard to facilitate, Dick is a character that has grown and developed -- he's a character who is built on the very idea of change.” While you’re at IGN, be sure to check out their exclusive preview of SUICIDE SQUAD #3.
