Free Comic Book Day has become a bona fide holiday for comic book fans nationwide and beyond. We recognize this, which is why we provided you with our list of DC Comics talent signings last week. It’s also why we went on Twitter and asked you to send us your FCBD photos and tweets using the #DCFCBD hashtag.
We were very impressed with what we received, so we’ve compiled some of these tweets and photos below. Consider it our virtual scrapbook of FCBD, as compiled by you, the DC Comics fans. Enjoy!
It was quite a fight. The challengers were unyielding, using the environment to their advantage and breaking out their special moves, until at last only three remained standing.
Yes, three. What? You thought you were talking about Injustice?
No, for once we weren’t referring to the new hit fighting game from DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. Interactive and NetherRealm, but to the small army of people trying to win a free copy. Last week, we announced that we’d be giving away three copies of Injustice: Gods Among Us to fans who tweeted a photo in their very best Injustice fighting stance.
Well, you certainly didn’t disappoint! You punched. You kicked. You looked like you might’ve pulled something. The bottom line is that the Injustice fighters have nothing on you.
Okay, that’s not true. They could totally kick your butt (they’re super heroes, after all!). But our three awesome winners will get a taste of what that’s like—standing in the shoes of their favorite DC Comics hero or villain and taking on much of the DCU. Congrats, guys. Thanks for entering and we hope you enjoy the game. As for the rest of you, please enjoy their winning photos above.
We spent a good part of last week talking about Injustice: Gods Among Us here on DCComics.com. And of course, that came right on the heels of a number of awesome game trailers, a recent 5.2 Reasons column on the game and of course the massive 10-week Injustice Battle Arena.
It’s pretty obviously that we’re big fans of this game, and we’re apparentlynot theonly ones. If you haven’t yet experienced Injustice: Gods Among Us, you owe it to yourself to check it out. And we owe it to you to make that as easy as possible. So this week, we’re giving you the chance to snag a copy of NetherRealm’s awesome new fighting game starring all of your favorite DC Comics characters for the game console of your choice…for free.
We have three copies of Injustice to give away to fans. But if you want to win one, you’ll need to do a few simple things first.
2) Tweet a picture of you in your best Injustice fighting stance between 10 a.m. PST on Wednesday, April 24 and 11:59 p.m. PST on Friday, April 26. Be sure to use the hashtag #InjusticeGiveaway in your tweet to have your entry counted.
Costumes and props in the photos are welcome, but not required. After the deadline, we’ll pick the three best photos and winners will be contacted on Twitter after the contest ends for their info and game console (so check those direct messages!). We’ll post the winning photos here in the DC Comics Fan Blog next week.
Good luck, fight fans!

His brand new MIMOBOT flash drive, that is.

Late last month, as a part of Green Arrow Week, we offered you a chance to win a copy of GREEN ARROW #17 with an original sketch cover by Jeff Lemire. To enter, all you needed to do was submit a photo of yourself (or a friend or family member) recreating the original cover of the comic.
We received quite a few entries, and they were all right on target. Some were fun, some were cute, some turned us green with envy at your creativity, while some turned us green with printer ink after we tried printing them out…but that’s a different story. The bottom line is that it’s clear you guys had fun with the opportunity, and it was really exciting to see so many creative Green Arrow fans out there.
It took a little while, but we finally settled on our five favorites. Here they are, in no particular order. Congrats to the winners, and to everyone who entered, thanks for being such a great fan!
On Monday, we announced that the DC Comics Facebook page now has over a million likes. That’s a huge milestone, and we’re appreciative of each and every one of you who helped us cross it. Your support of DC comic books, films, TV shows, video games, collectibles and more has been both humbling and invigorating.
Whether you’re devoted to the super-powered adventures of the Man of Steel, the nighttime crimefighting of the Dark Knight, the mythic fantasy of Wonder Woman, the intergalactic intrigue of Green Lantern, or any of our other titles… Whether you’re passionate about one of our characters or all of them… Whether you’ve been reading our comics since you were a child, only recently read your first one, or prefer to follow our super-heroes on TV or on film… No matter what shape your fandom takes, we appreciate it more than words can say. Thank you.
We’d love to express that gratitude to each one of you in person, but with over a million of you, that would take a while! So instead, we decided to give away a free digital comic. For the next 24 hours, we’re offering a free download of Geoff Johns and Jim Lee’s JUSTICE LEAGUE #1.
Earlier this week, we mentioned that Superman had gathered over 4 million likes on his official Facebook page. That’s an astonishing milestone, and we know that it could only have been possible with the support and love for the character fostered by all of you—the awesome Superman fans who have kept our favorite Kryptonian flying high for 75 years.
Over that time, Superman has accomplished much. Along with his self-titled flagship comic, he’s been a part of some amazing ongoing titles like Action Comics, The Adventures of Superman, World’s Finest Comics and the upcoming Superman Unchained. He’s starred in critically acclaimed graphic novels such as All-Star Superman, Superman For All Seasons, Kingdom Come, Superman: Last Son of Krypton and The Death of Superman. He’s appeared on the big screen and small in both animated and live action form, in prose novels and children’s books, on clothing, in videogames… He’s one of the most widely recognized characters in the world, and with the support of fans like you, his popularity will only continue to grow.
We wanted to thank all of you for reading Superman comics, watching Superman movies, and helping to make the Man of Steel one of the world’s most popular super heroes. So for the next 24 hours, we’re offering a free download of Grant Morrison and Rags Morales’ extra-sized ACTION COMICS #1.
Superman has defeated villains like Lex Luthor and Brainiac, survived his home planet’s destruction and kept ours safe from harm for over eighty years. Batman has defeated armies of undead assassins, kept some of the most destructive criminals in check and fought otherworldly threats alongside the Justice League—and he does all this without super powers.
And yet, neither of them could have achieved their most recent accomplishments on their own. They needed each and every one of you.
This week, Batman passed 8 million likes on his official Facebook page. Superman passed 4 million. And DC Comics hit the 1 million mark.
We wanted to celebrate these great accomplishments by celebrating the people who made them possible—the fans. Today, the cover photo on all three Facebook pages has been updated with new art commemorating the milestone and thanking the fans for making it possible.
But that’s just the start. Throughout this week and beyond, keep an eye out for this logo:
We’ll be using it to flag special “FANtastic Moments” on all three Facebook pages and right here on DCComics.com. Some of these will be posts, photo galleries, articles and other great content driven by fans. Some will be giveaways and cool stuff that we’ve put together for our fans as a thank you for helping us hit these milestones.
In fact, you can find your very first FANtastic Moment right here! In honor of Batman reaching 8 million, we’re offering a free digital download of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s BATMAN #1 for the next 24 hours.
