Jim Lee on G4 Tonight

Hitting comic book stores this Wednesday, JUSTICE LEAGUE #3 will see the introduction of Wonder Woman and Aquaman to the team that will become the World’s Greatest Superheroes. But these are not the seasoned heroes of their respective eponymous titles; they are younger, more arrogant. In short, they’re not team players – yet.

Even so, that doesn’t mean they can’t make things go BOOM when faced with an army of parademons. Artist Jim Lee visited the G4 studios to give them an exclusive first look at issue #3, and at the destruction that results when these superpowers get together.

Tune in to G4's X-Play today at 3:30pm PT/6:30pm ET to check out the sneak peek at JUSTICE LEAGUE #3 – and, a special bonus, Jim talks about Arkham City and DC Universe Online.

(Everybody’s Talkin’ About) DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, Wednesday Morning (ET) Edition

Last Friday, COMIC BOOK RESOURCES and Golden Apple Comics in Los Angeles hosted a wrap party for the first month of DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. The writers and artists in attendance included Brian Buccellato, Bernard Chang, Mike Costa, Dan DiDio, Josh Fialkov, Sterling Gates, Adam Glass, Kyle Higgins and Scott Lobdell. Head on over to COMIC BOOK RESOURCES to hear all of these creators talk about what titles from DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 were their favorites. “It was really exciting to work with Francis on the book because he saw this book visually first,” said DC Entertainment Co-Publisher and O.M.A.C. writer Dan DiDio about THE FLASH. “He was talking about images and speed and how he was going to be able to interpret the fastest man in the world. And when you saw the art come in, you couldn’t help but get super excited because you saw this visual interpretation that feels incredibly fresh.”

Sara Lima at COMICVINE published a piece on how DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 has made iconic leading lady Lois Lane into a powerful, self-sufficient, successful and integral female character. “This Lois finally gets to be the boss. She's smart, sassy, and has no problem standing up to the man who promoted her to Vice President,” wrote Lima. “She's certainly stronger, more interesting and has a lot more depth.”

Finally, as gamers everywhere already know, BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY, the long-awaited sequel to the blockbuster game, BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM, hits stores in less than two weeks. G4 ran the first two of three segments showcasing the villains that The Dark Knight will be facing this time around. Watch the videos to catch a glimpse at how characters like Two-Face, Penguin, Solomon Grundy, Talla al Ghul, Riddler, Catwoman, and of course, Joker, will look in the new game. And remember to pick up BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY, available for PS3, XBOX 360 and PC, on October 18th.

A few links of note for Monday

whccnt

What, news happens after San Diego? Believe it or not, the answer is yes. And because I know you're surfing the web for anything that'd help distract from the fact that today is indeed Monday, here are two things well worth your time.

THE NEW YORK TIMES has an excellent review of Neil Gaiman and Andy Kubert's WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE CAPED CRUSADER? collection. Here's an excerpt:

“Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?” has morbid moments, but also bittersweet passages. Its title story, written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Andy Kubert, imagines several variations of Batman’s death. This anthology, published by DC Comics, also includes other stories by Mr. Gaiman about the millionaire Bruce Wayne’s famous alter ego. The other tales are very good, but “Whatever Happened to ...” packs enough emotional punch to stand solo.

COMICS ALLIANCE's Laura Hudson catches up with Blair Butler, who we recently announced would be gracing the cover to BOOSTER GOLD #23. Another sampling, because we're nice like that:

ComicsAlliance: So, how did the whole "Booster Gold" cover with DC come about?

Blair Butler: I actually got a call from Dan DiDio who said he had a crazy idea for an upcoming issue of "Booster Gold." Basically – and forgive me, because my memory sucks and I'm still recovering from Comic-Con – I recall that he said DC wanted to do a cover that sort of stood out for #23, and having a photo cover with a Booster fan was the main idea. It seemed oddly appropriate, since Booster is a bit of an attention hog. I think he'd not-so-secretly love the idea of having a lady-fan on the cover of his book. And, honestly, I was incredibly humbled that DC would ask me to don the Blue and Gold fan colors. I've loved comics since I had to stand on a stool to reach the quarter-bins at my local comic shop, so it's pretty awesome to get to be part of a DC comic.

A few SDCC links of note

In addition to the previously mentioned Fallon bit, the San Diego coverage is slowly rolling in, and we've got the first bunch of cool links for you here. Because that's what we do, no?

• Newsarama's Vaneta Rogers talked to DC President and Publisher Paul Levitz and SVP of Sales and Marketing Steve Rotterdam about DC's presence on Google.com last week. She also chatted up writer Matt Sturges about the newly-announced JSA ALL STARS series.

• IO9's Graeme MacMillan covered a lot of ground in this must-read interview with our very own Dan DiDio.

• G4 anchor and star of BOOSTER GOLD #23's cover, Blair Butler talked to Senior Story Editor Ian Sattler to get the lowdown on all things DCU and also got a very special souvenir from Paul Levitz.

We'll post more as the hits continue to appear, including Dan on a yacht. Stay tuned.

Unveiling Booster Gold’s #1 fan – Blair Butler

Day one is almost complete here in lovely San Diego, and what’s a day at SDCC without some kind of news? Not just any news, either, but something fun and involving one of comics’ biggest fans and supporters.

As you probably saw on G4 already, we debuted the final cover to BOOSTER GOLD #23, revealing just who Booster’s #1 fan really is.

Who is it? Well, none other than Blair Butler, co-host or correspondent or Fresh Ink Host from G4's Attack of the Show and an all-around comic book fan. So, before we collapse in a heap from just a partial day of con madness, we’ve got the cover to the issue right here. Thanks to Blair for being such a good sport.

And while there can only be one #1 fan, you can show your support in t-shirt form. Our friends at Graphitti Designs will be selling shirts with this very cover emblazoned on it right here at the con. Our President and Publisher, Paul Levitz, got the chance to present Blair with her very own "BOOSTER GOLD FAN CLUB" shirt yesterday, as the photo below attests.

Well, what are you waiting for? And no, I won’t buy one for you.
