As promised, we’ve got an all-star lineup of posts, art and comments rolling out this week. All celebrating the 700th issue of BATMAN. First up, we have a look at an interior page from superstar artist Andy Kubert’s contribution to Grant’s BATMAN #700 story, along with comments from the venerable Mr. Kubert himself. Take it away, Andy! batm700-196

A few thoughts on Batman

bm_cv700_variant-copy Batman was the hero every kid could aspire to be. Well, at least that was the logic a skinny, geeky kid in Miami used. See, I never expected to be bitten by a radioactive anything, and as far as I knew, I hadn't been born on another planet -- despite sometimes hoping that was the case.

We’ve got a simple good news/bad news situation for you all this morning. Bad news: Artist Cameron Stewart won’t be handling the art chores on the fourth issue of BATMAN: THE RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE. We’ll have more Cameron news, however, in the coming months, so — as usual — keep it locked here at The Source. So, wait. That’s not bad news at all.

It’s not longer a question of IF Bruce Wayne is alive, but WHEN. And in this second issue, written by Batman virtuoso Grant Morrison with stunning artwork from Frazer Irving, we see Bruce timeslip into another era of Gotham, with plenty of surprises to keep our amnesiac Dark Knight busy. THIS JUST HAPPENED: BATMAN AND ROBIN #12 ends with a shocker

Well, that was a doozy of an issue, wasn’t it? The final page of BATMAN AND ROBIN #12 not only capped off an exciting run of issues by writer Grant Morrison and artist Andy Clarke, but also marked the return of a long-missed and unexpected character. Did you have any inkling it was…oh, wait. You haven’t read the issue yet? Yeesh. Well, hop to it, then! If you have, make with the click below to see just what I’m talking about.
