MAGOG hits the sewers to battle his newest foe in MAGOG #2

Magog's got a bit of a problem: How can he use the vast resources of the Justice Society without them finding out he's going against their wishes/ Oh, and there's a more immediate problem: Facing off against the putrid villain known as Miasma in New York City. This issue continues the first arc from the creative team of writer Keith Giffen and artist Howard Porter. Click below for a look at the first four pages plus a intense Glenn Fabry cover.

MAGOG #2 hits 10/7.

It's Mother's Day in MAGOG #4

Magog has a mommy? Who knew? Well, I'd imagine writer Keith Giffen and artist Howard Porter did. That's all the info we have for you, Source-ers, but we do have a lovely Porter design sketch for you to look at. We also managed to corner MAGOG editor Mike Carlin into giving us a tad more info on who this lady really is. Take it away, Mike:

"We’ll meet Magog’s Mom, Alba in issue #4...When she calls Magog back home to Albion. Where the demigod’s roots are!"

Fair enough. MAGOG #4 hits in January.

Take another look at MAGOG #1

We unveiled a short preview of the first issue of MAGOG, from writer Keith Giffen and artist Howard Porter a while back, but it never hurts to gently remind you that it's in stores this week. We also thought it'd be nice to throw in a few extra pages, for good measure.

Tired of the restraints that come with being a card-carrying member of the JSA, Magog decides to take justice into his own hands. But how does that synch up with Magog's own, apparently unavoidable destiny? We can't tell, but these pages should shed some light on the situation.

MAGOG #1 hits tomorrow.

San Diego news: Announcing JSA ALL STARS

The Justice Society has always been about legacy. Young and old. Legends and rookies. Together to protect Earth from any kind of villain.

But what happens when the generations disagree?

After writers Bill Willingham and Matthew Sturges conclude their first arc on JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA, the team splits – creatively and literally, with Willingham holding the fort and Sturges moving over to a new ongoing series, JSA ALL STARS, with artist Freddie E. Williams III.

And what’s the high concept? Taking a cue from Magog, a new JSA team forms, choosing a more proactive approach to handling the villains populating the planet, in defiance of some of the JSA’s most stalwart members.

But that’s not all. We cornered JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA and JSA ALL STARS editor Mike Carlin for a tad more info, out here in the wilds of San Diego. Take it away, Mike:

“The differences in styles on how to approach the mounting problems before them have grown too intense to ignore...Hence the splitting of the team. Oh, and the JSA is torn into two groups, as well!”

And what a coincidence – we’re announcing the new series just in time for our “Great Society” panel, which is slated to cover all things relating to the JSA, including the newly-announced MAGOG, POWER GIRL, JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA, JSA ALL STARS and more, with comments from Carlin, Willingham, Sturges, Williams, Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti and more.

For those reading from home, here’s a first look at art from JSA ALL STARS, plus some other panel goodies.

It's a MAGOG Tuesday

You heard the news, saw some art and know the basics about MAGOG, but it never hurts to show a bit more, does it?

Magog steps into the spotlight in September, tired of chafing at the restraints that being in the JSA comes with. But what happens when he takse justice into his own hands and begins to track down a group of criminals dealing high-tech arms to lowlife scum around the DCU? Be sure to check out the first issue, from writer Keith Giffen, Porter and Dell.

Here's a look at artist Glenn Fabry's cover to #1, an in-progress look at #2 and Howard Porter and inker John Dell's variant for #1.

How about some more Howard Porter MAGOG artwork?

Sure, why not?

MAGOG, by writer Kieth Giffen and artist Porter, puts the spotlight on the hardline character as he breaks off into his own ongoing series. And who better to tell the tales of a hero with no limit than Giffen, a writer known for pushing the envelope regularly? And wait, there's art.
