DC COMICS ALL ACCESS: IAN SATTLER TALKS DC NATION

DC Nation in Animation!

For a lot of us, cartoons have always been destination programming. Whether it was Saturday mornings, after-school or prime time, we knew where we had to be to see our heroes have adventures on the small screen (or I guess "adventures on the giant flat screen" is more appropriate now). I'm super excited to let you know that it's time for a new appointment on your cartoon calendars because DC NATION is now on every Saturday at 10am on Cartoon Network! DC NATION is an hour-long block of awesome starting with Green Lantern: The Animated Series and followed by new episodes of Young Justice. In between these two great shows you'll also get to see short stories from all over the DC Universe in different styles of animation from some of the best talent in the entire world. But don't just take my word for it - take a look at these images from the show and then get in front of your televisions every Saturday at 10am and tune in to DC NATION to see what's in store for you that week!

NYCC 2010: DC UNIVERSE

It’s day 2 here at NYCC, and it’s not a convention without a DC UNIVERSE panel. Senior Story Editor Ian Sattler will be our MC today in room 1A08-12 as he and your favorite DCU creators talk shop, characters and tease what’s coming up for the line. Can’t make it? Scroll below for a look at the art we’re teasing. It’s like we’ve brought the con to your own computer.

SDCC 2010 – in photos

And you thought we were done with SDCC 2010 posts! Well, far from it. While at the show, we managed to snag a number of pictures – of fans, creators and other assorted highlights from the show. So, scroll below for a visual recap of the event, courtesy of my cellphone camera and others. Click below to begin.

Your weekend plans are set: HEROESCON

Looking for something to do this weekend? Well look no longer because the 2010 DC Nation tour pulls into Charlotte, North Carolina for Heroes Convention from June 4th - 6th at the Charlotte Convention Center.

Hi, I'm DCU Senior Story Editor Ian Sattler. You might remember me from other convention posts such as, "The guy who was stoked to get doughnuts in Seattle" or "The guy with the party hats in Baltimore". I fly to Charlotte tomorrow at dawn (seriously why do they make flights that leave so early?) and I am am thrilled to be attending Heroes again. This is one of the best shows in the country for fans to come and meet their favorite creators and this year's guest list is pretty stacked. Take a look:

FRANCO AURELIANI, MARK BAGLEY, BRIAN BOLLAND, BERNARD CHANG , CLIFF CHIANG, CULLY HAMNER , SCOTT HAMPTON , TONY HARRIS , JEREMY HAUN , GREG HORN, ADAM HUGHES , JAMAL IGLE , KEVIN MAGUIRE , DUSTIN NGUYEN , MIKE NORTON , STEPHANE

ROUX , BILLY TUCCI , ETHAN VAN SCIVER & BILL WILLINGHAM

As usual we'll be hosting our industry-leading, not technically but theoretically award-wining panels on Saturday and Sunday. If you can make it to the show please come out and see us. It'll be fun, I promise.

DC NATION!

Saturday, 12-1pm, room 207BCD

The DC NATION returns to Charlotte! We’re always looking for new recruits, so be sure to come on by as Senior Story Editor Ian Sattler and some of the industry’s top talent give you the inside scoop on all things DC.

SUNDAY CONVERSATION WITH IAN SATTLER

Sunday, 12-1pm, room 209

All are welcome to join Senior Story Editor Ian Sattler for a relaxed Sunday afternoon discussion. Share your thoughts, or be enthralled, as the group share their stories and love for this medium.

Ian Sattler checks in from J.G. Jones’ art signing in Philly

We’ve got some live news this afternoon, as Senior Story Editor Ian Sattler phones in from Philadelphia, where he’s attending a signing by superstar artist J.G. Jones. What’s the good word, Ian?

"I stopped off in Philly to talk with JG Jones about his next top secret project for DC and got to roll to his signing/art show at the super rad new location of Atomic City Comics. If you're in the area make sure to come by and see us."

Oh, and he sends photos. Nice way to end the week. See you all Monday!

Some more info on DCU: LEGACIES

Been a great show so far, eh? For those reading along from home, our very own Ian Sattler promised on the DC Editorial panel at WonderCon today that we'd be talking about some major creators contributing to upcoming issues of DCU: LEGACIES, the era-spanning series touching on the various heroes and villains of the DC Universe.

Well, how about these names? J.H. Williams III. Dave Gibbons. Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez. Rags Morales. Dan Jurgens.

Not too shabby, huh?

And because I can't really contain myself when I know I have a cool piece of Dave Gibbons art, here's the inked cover to LEGACIES #3, from the legendary creator.

A Friday hint from Sattler

Happy Friday DC Nation! I hope that you're weekend is shaping up to be a good one. I know I'm excited to spend the entirety of Saturday and Sunday watching football with my dog and playing hockey on the PS3. You loyal readers of The Source will notice that I haven't been home for the weekend in a while so I have a lot of being lazy to get caught up on.

Speaking of my recent travel - a lot of you were wondering about the "Mystery Writer" I was having an iced tea with. I won't be able to say for a quite a while, but I can give you a new hint. See that picture of my desk? Notice that the message light is lit up on my phone. Having a feeling it might be a call from our friend. We'll see...

DC NATION on the road with Sattler part 6

photo31

How's it going DC Nation? Not a ton of time to post today, as I'm about to get on a flight from LA to Baltimore. Make sure to check back on Monday for a full update from the 10th annual Baltimore Comic Con. We'll be doing DC Nation and Sunday Conversation and I will probably talk about pro football. Just a hunch on that last one. The one good thing about the length of this flight is that I'll have time to watch the new Superman/Batman animated DVD. See ya back East!

And I thought I took my coffee seriously. I spent part of the afternoon with Philip Tan at his "office" which is a coffee shop. He drives 160miles round trip to work here because it provides him with the right environment to create. At first I thought he was crazy, but the place is comfortable, open 'till midnight and they serve what is easily the strongest coffee I've ever had. My hands are shaking while I type this. And as you can see from this Metamorpho sketch, the coffee shop has Mr. Tan in outstanding creative spirits as he gears up for his run on Outsiders with Dan DiDio. Coffee!

DC NATION on the road with Sattler part 4

Hello from...well I'm actually not sure where I am right now. Somewhere deep in the Valley in LA at a coffee shop. I've driven so much in the last 24 hours that I can't believe that it's all been in only one state. Everything is crusing along though and it's great to hear how into the DCU everybody is right now. That includes the person I'm sitting with as I type this. They are a writer that has never done anything for the DCU, but that is gonna change in 2010. Wanna try and guess? Well here is a hint: This is a picture of their iced tea. Pretty amazing hint, huh? Ok gotta run, but talk to you tomorrow!
