If you’ve been following us on Twitter or Facebook, you’ve probably noticed that there’s been a huge outpouring of press in reaction to the shocking conclusion of BATMAN AND ROBIN #16. It all started early yesterday, as THE ASSOCIATED PRESS broke the news that (stop reading now if you haven’t picked up the issue) Bruce Wayne had been secretly funding Batman for years, and would expand his funding and launch BATMAN INCORPORATED in an interview with the man behind it all, writer Grant Morrison.

With that, we were off to the races. DC Comics Editor in Chief Bob Harras did a number of interviews, including chats with USA TODAY, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, CNN’s MARQUEE BLOG, TIME TECHLAND, AOL COMICS ALLIANCE, THE L.A. TIMES' HERO COMPLEX, COMIC BOOK RESOURCES, NEWSARAMA and IO9.

And in case you missed it, WIRED’s Scott Thill had an epic, engaging and all-around interesting interview with Morrison, which is a must-read for fans of the man’s work. Also, the issue's been getting raves -- with glowing reviews at POP MATTERS and IGN to kick things off.

Have you picked up your copy of BATMAN AND ROBIN v2: BATMAN VS. ROBIN yet?

Over at IGN, there’s a ton of BATMAN excitement going on. If you missed it, the site announced plans for Paul Cornell and Scott McDaniel to step onto BATMAN AND ROBIN for three issues, gave readers a first look at David Finch’s BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT and talked to BATMAN writer/artist Tony Daniel and Batman Group Editor Mike Marts.

And there’s more on the way. Hm, seems like November is shaping up to be a big month for the Dark Knight, huh?

What? Too on the nose? Well, I’m not the detective here.

• If you’re in the Soho area of Manhattan tonight, swing by the Animazing Gallery, on 54 Greene St. Comic book legend Neal Adams will be the guest of honor at the event, which starts at 6pm and goes on until 9. The gallery will feature a new collection of original and exclusive art and Neal will be signing copies of his new art book and featuring pages from BATMAN: ODYSSEY. Cool, huh?

IGN gave BATMAN AND ROBIN #15 a sterling review, calling writer Grant Morrison’s entire run “groundbreaking.” We agree!

• In case you missed it, over at io9, there’s a lengthy and interesting interview with incoming DETECTIVE COMICS writer Scott Snyder about his plans for the series and what it’s like working with artists Jock and Francesco Francavilla.

IGN spotlights the best of the DCU

Before we dive into the week (or, at least, I do), we wanted to steer your attention to a notable bit of press – namely, IGN’s feature on the “best of” the DC Universe.

The profile looks at 10 key DCU books and points out why they’re essential reading. We’re not going to spoil the top book, because that’s for IGN to decide and you all to read, but swing over and give the top 10 a look.

And, they’ve also got a spotlight on the “best of” Vertigo, too, as our sister blog GRAPHIC CONTENT noted.

A few links of note: SUPERMAN “GROUNDED”

It wouldn’t be a stretch to call Wednesday a historic day, what with our major digital news and the details surrounding writer J. Michael Straczynski and artist Eddy Barrows’ upcoming Superman “Grounded” arc.

Things kicked off with USA TODAY’s announcement of the news, which involves Superman walking across the US. Then we chimed in with more details on how you, the fans can participate by unveiling a “Superman Across America” contest.

A bevy of interviews soon followed, including JMS chats with IGN, CBR, AOL COMICS ALLIANCE and NEWSARAMA.

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS, THE NEW YORK TIMES and THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS also chimed in with stories, and we saw coverage by io9, TOPLESS ROBOTMOVIEFONE, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY and THE ONION AV CLUB.

With more to come!

And on that note, I’d like to wish you all a restful and pleasant weekend – plenty of time to start working on your contest entries.

A few links of note: BATMAN #700

bm_700a-2-copy

In case you missed it – and really, how could you, with a week-long spotlight right here? – BATMAN #700 hit this week. And the issue featured an epic, time-twisting tale from writer Grant Morrison and artists Tony Daniel, Frank Quitely, Andy Kubert, Scott Kolins and David Finch.

And people took notice. The issue got attention from CNN.com (with comments from Grant and our very own Dan DiDio), an “A-“ review at EW.com’s SHELF LIFE blog, a preview and hat tip from Scott Thill over at WIRED’s UNDERWIRE blog and kudos from the folks at IGN and NEWSARAMA.

And right here on The Source, we had special visits from Grant, David Finch, Andy Kubert, Dustin Nguyen, Shane Davis and Philip Tan, each one celebrating the Dark Knight. And if that wasn’t enough, yours truly chimed in with comments on Batman, BATMAN: YEAR ONE and the sad tale of a certain Harvey Dent.

Pretty busy week, I’d say. And we’ve got two more epic anniversary issues to go. Stay tuned right here for more.

RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE #2 hits today

And we’ve got something extra for you.

Not only has writer Grant Morrison done a number of interviews in recent weeks, with THE ONION AV CLUB, io9, AOL COMICS ALLIANCE, TIME TECHLAND, TOPLESS ROBOT and MTV SPLASH PAGE, but the series has also received sterling reviews, including props from AIN'T IT COOL NEWS, COMIC BOOK RESOURCES, NEWSARAMA and IGN.

What more could there be to show off, you ask?

Well, how about a first look at DC DIRECT’s RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE action figures?

The first wave will hit in April of next year, and features four different versions of our time lost hero, based on the designs of cover artist Andy Kubert.

The figures include:

Prehistoric Batman

Witch-hunter Batman

Wild West Batman

High Seas Batman

Check ‘em out below and make some space on that shelf.
