Celebrating Bob Wayne at San Diego Comic Con

12

There was more than one DC staffer honored by the fine folks at Comic-Con last weekend, and in case you missed Saturday's DCU Editorial Presentation, we're more than happy to share the info here.

Bob Wayne, our VP-Sales, was honored with his very own Inkpot Award, commemorating his years of service to the industry and with Comic-Con. And by  "commemorating" I mean being roasted in front of fans, colleagues and friends alike with a series of old photos and a funny video segment that I'll keep exclusive to those that were in attendance (you can thank me later, Bob).

Despite the surprise, Bob was kind enough to talk to us about the award.

"Comic-Con has been an important part of my career for the last thirty years," Bob said.  "I'm grateful to the convention's organizers for this award and I look forward to many more years of working with them."

So, Bob, here's a blog salute, for all your hard work and dedication over the years. More importantly, for being a good sport and letting your friends heckle you on the biggest stage possible.

Paul Levitz honored with 2009 Inkpot Award at Comic-Con

As promised, there was more going on at the DC booth on Friday beyond breaking Guinness World Records. Yesterday, DC Comics President and Publisher Paul Levitz was honored with a shiny, new -- and upgraded -- Inkpot Award by Comic-Con International in a surprise ceremony. Paul was originally honored with the award in 2002 -- now, that award has gotten a bit of spit and polish.

The Inkpot Awards have been presented since 1974, and are given as a sign of recognition to guests of Comic-Con and also from members of Comic-Con's committee and Board of Directors.

It was an honor to be present for this, which happened toward the end of the day yesterday amidst the hustle and bustle of a fun, energized show, and we're doubly honored to have the opportunity to congratulate Paul on the award, since we didn't have the chance to when he was originally presented with it. So, an upgraded congrats, Paul. You deserve it.
