Jonah Hex (2010)

Out of the pages of the legendary comics and graphic novels steps Jonah Hex, a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort who can track anyone…and anything. Having survived death, Jonah’s violent history is steeped in myth and legend and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the “other side.” His one human connection is with Lilah, whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own. But Jonah’s past catches up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can’t refuse: to wipe out the warrants on his head, he must hunt and stop dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull. But Turnbull, now gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell, is also Jonah’s oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead.

The Best of 2011

There’s still glitter on the streets. Fridges are filled with half-empty bottles of champagne and gyms are extra crowded due to people working on their resolutions. And while we celebrate the beginning of a new year, there’s no better way to ring in 2012 than to reflect on the successes of 2011.

The DC offices were closed all of last week, but that doesn’t mean that press didn’t continue to roll in. Below, take a look at some of the year-end “best of” lists that ran.

IGN Begins Countdown of Top 100 Heroes in Comics

Top-traffic game site IGN has started a countdown of their top 100 super heroes of all time. Everyday they've been unrolling more and more of their list. So far, they've revealed a little more than half of their entries and DC has secured a solid number of spots, with characters such as Black Lightning, Superboy, Jonah Hex, Booster Gold, Aquaman, and Barry Allen being included. Head on over to IGN to see the full list so far and keep checking back as the rest is revealed today and tomorrow.

Jeff Lemire to Draw Jonah Hex

Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray have had a great roster of artists to work with on their Jonah Hex run, and issue #69 will continue that trend when Jeff Lemire takes on art duties for the western series.

Between writing and drawing Vertigo's SWEET TOOTH and working on scripts for SUPERBOY and FLASHPOINT: FRANKENSTEIN AND THE CREATURES OF THE UNKNOWN, Jeff's got a ton of great work coming down the pipeline. (Did I mention an appearance in next month's STRANGE ADVENTURES from Vertigo?)

JONAH HEX #69 hits comic shops in July.

A first look at Fiona Staples' interiors for JONAH HEX #66

My admiration for Fiona Staples may be more publicly documented than the personal lives of most reality stars, but that respect is certainly well-earned. I’ve been looking forward to previewing Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray’s JONAH HEX #66 since we announced Fiona would be handling the art duties for the issue earlier this year.

Here’s what Fiona had to say about her experience drawing the issue:
