Lighting the Way: Green Lantern Alan Scott

DC Comics’ beloved oath-saying hero is turning 75 this year, and with a monthly series of comics still on the shelves and a new movie arriving in time for his 80th, it’s clear that the character is still running strong. However, it’s not hard to forget that much of what we associate with Green Lantern—the oath, the Green Lantern Corps, Sinestro, the constant space-faring—didn’t arrive until much later. Heck, even the most well known Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, is but a mere 56 years old.

5.2 Reasons We Love the Multiverse

The idea of what could have been always intrigues. It’s literally the basis of fictional storytelling. Those magic words: what if?

What if a stranger visitor from another world came to Earth and our yellow sun granted him amazing abilities far beyond that of normal man? What if a young boy with unlimited funds and resources saw his parents gunned down in front of him and began a never-ending quest for justice? What if a dying alien gifted a young pilot with the most powerful weapon in the galaxy?

Supertown Breakdown

Writer Marc Guggenheim and artist Scott Kolins are working on a big canvas with their "Supertown" storyline. Issue 47 sees events play out in Gotham City and Jacksonville, FL and features appearances by Manhunter and Blue Devil and a sinister development with the appropriately named Dr. Chaos. The JSA is already reeling from recent events. Can the team survive what happens next? JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #47 goes on sale Wednesday. Here's an advance look at the issue. It's Mother's Day in MAGOG #4

Magog has a mommy? Who knew? Well, I'd imagine writer Keith Giffen and artist Howard Porter did. That's all the info we have for you, Source-ers, but we do have a lovely Porter design sketch for you to look at. We also managed to corner MAGOG editor Mike Carlin into giving us a tad more info on who this lady really is. Take it away, Mike: "We’ll meet Magog’s Mom, Alba in issue #4...When she calls Magog back home to Albion. Where the demigod’s roots are!" Fair enough. MAGOG #4 hits in January.
