JUSTICE LEAGUE #6 GOES BACK TO PRINT

JUSTICE LEAGUE #6 has sold out and will be going back to press for its second printing. Written by New York Times bestselling author Geoff Johns and illustrated by legendary artist Jim Lee, the issue concludes the first story arc of the flagship series, showcasing the defeat of Darkseid and the formation of the team.

The bestselling comic book of 2011, JUSTICE LEAGUE #1 has been to press seven times already. Issues 4 and 5 have both been back to press for second printings, as well.

The second printing of JUSTICE LEAGUE #6 lands in comic book stores on May 2, the same day as JUSTICE LEAGUE VOLUME 1: ORIGIN - the hardbound edition which collects JUSTICE LEAGUE #1-6.

JUSTICE LEAGUE DESIGN – MYSTERY VILLAIN BY JIM LEE

Out this week, JUSTICE LEAGUE #7 serves as a prologue to the next big threat that will face the World’s Greatest Superheroes, setting the stage for “The Villain’s Journey.” Beginning in issue 9 with regular series artist Jim Lee’s return to illustration duties, the story by Geoff Johns will introduce a mysterious new enemy for the Justice League. That’s all we’re saying for now – but we’ve got a first look at one of Lee’s early designs right here on THE SOURCE.

JUSTICE LEAGUE #7 DESIGN: A.R.G.U.S. BY GENE HA

“In this instance, Gene [Ha] did a ton of research when coming up with an A.R.G.U.S. agent’s body armor and helmet. And based on that, he did TWO tons of sketching until he got to a place that he and Jim Lee both agreed to.

“One thing Jim wanted was a fancier, more high-tech helmet than what Gene had in his first round of sketching. Ultimately, Gene came up with this design. It’s very clever in that there’s the option to make it look ominous or so that you can see the person’s facial expression. It’s extremely versatile.”
- Brian Cunningham, JUSTICE LEAGUE editor

JUSTICE LEAGUE #7 DESIGN: SPORE BY GENE HA

“One of the reasons I love working with Gene [Ha] is that besides being an enormously talented artist, he also truly invests himself into the material he works on. Spore is a modern monster based on the ongoing threat of bio-warfare, and Gene clearly had a blast designing him and his flesh-eating Seed creatures. What’s poignant about Spore is that his predicament is a subtle metaphor for the heart of issue #7’s overall story. Oh, and Spore’s origin definitely ties into the next big arc — the hows and whys will become apparent later in the ‘Villain’s Journey.’”
- Brian Cunningham, JUSTICE LEAGUE editor

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY’s first look at JUSTICE LEAGUE #7

This week, JUSTICE LEAGUE kicks off a brand new story arc in issue #7 of the bestselling series. Head on over to ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY to see an exclusive preview of the issue, which sets the superhero team in the present day for the first time.

“The first arc with Darkseid told of the League’s origins from five years ago, so we’re really excited to say that JUSTICE LEAGUE #7 is the team’s first adventure set in the modern day, right now in 2012,” series editor Brian Cunningham told THE SOURCE. “The opening pages of the issue establish the public’s perception of them…which is an enormous factor into what the ‘Villian’s Journey’ is really all about. In the pages following ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY’s preview, we’ll see exactly how much the League itself has changed over the course of five years. It will definitely surprise you.”

JUSTICE LEAGUE #7 is written by acclaimed writer Geoff Johns and is illustrated by guest artist Gene Ha. The issue also serves as the debut of the SHAZAM! backup story, which is also written by Geoff Johns and features art by Gary Frank. Pick up the issue when it goes on sale this Wednesday.

Get Your Photo Taken at the DC Entertainment Booth at WonderCon

Earlier today, we shared with you our panel schedule for WonderCon.

This morning, we’ve got more exciting things to share with you lucky people who will be attending WonderCon this weekend. At the DC Entertainment booth, we’ll have three different green screen backgrounds for you to take your picture in front of. For the first time, you’ll be able to have your photo taken with Alfred E. Neuman. You’ll also get a chance to have a picture of you snapped in front of the artwork of industry legend Jim Lee, DC Entertainment Co-Publisher and the artist of the bestselling JUSTICE LEAGUE. But that’s not all!

The first green screen background for you to take a picture in front of will be a mural of JUSTICE LEAGUE characters by some of your favorite artists from DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. Stand front and center with:

  • Aquaman (illustrated by Ardian Syaf)
  • Batman (illustrated by Andy Kubert)
  • Cyborg (illustrated by Gene Ha)
  • The Flash (illustrated by Francis Manapul)
  • Green Lantern (illustrated by Ivan Reis)
  • Superman (illustrated by Jim Lee)
  • Wonder Woman (illustrated by Adam Hughes)

The second green screen background to take your photo with is the image you’ve seen associated with the We Can Be Heroes campaign. Stand out in the Justice League against a silhouetted roster of the world’s greatest superheroes, as drawn by Jim Lee.

And if you’ve ever wanted to have your picture taken with MAD’s Alfred E. Neuman, now you finally have that chance. In the third green screen background, Alfred will be wearing his classic “I’m With Stupid” t-shirt and point to you! Don’t miss out on this opportunity to join the Usual Gang of Idiots over at MAD Magazine.

As always, you will be given physical print-outs of the photo as well as a unique digital redemption code so you can share the photos with family and friends and post them to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest and wherever else you desire.

Also debuting the first week in May is JUSTICE LEAGUE VOLUME ONE: ORIGIN, the hardcover volume collecting the first story arc of the flagship series for DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. USA TODAY’S FIRST LOOK AT THE CLIMACTIC BATTLE IN JUSTICE LEAGUE #6

Out this week, JUSTICE LEAGUE #6 gives us the climatic battle we’ve all been waiting for: Darkseid versus the World’s Great Super Heroes. And USA TODAY gives us an exclusive first glimpse at the battle royale – the tide of which does not favor the would-be super team. USA TODAY spoke with DC Comics’ own creative super team – New York Times bestselling writer Geoff Johns and legendary artist Jim Lee – about these disparate heroes, and what it will take for them to unite against a foe more powerful than anything they’ve encountered before. "You really see Batman's superpower is elevating the others around him,” said Johns. “Other than being a great tactician and a great fighter, he does know how to motivate people in the right way and crack into them like a safe." Adds Lee: "Every character steps up and does something important in taking down Darkseid and saving the day. That's the trick to any team book facing one ultimate bad guy is how do you get every character doing something meaningful, and the story delivers on that." JUSTICE LEAGUE #6 lands in comic book stores this Wednesday.
