Announcing "H'EL ON EARTH"

This fall, there will be an electrifying crossover occurring in SUPERMAN, SUPERBOY and SUPERGIRL. Spanning across all the series’ #14 issues, “H’el on Earth” will put these super-beings into battle with the maniacal alien, H’el.

Written by Tom DeFalco and featuring art by R.B. Silva and Rob Lean, SUPERBOY #14 guest stars Supergirl and the Teen Titans. Fresh from the events of SUPERMAN #13, Superman’s deadliest new foe comes after Kon-El!

Picking up right there, Supergirl too meets the villainous H’el. But what happens when Kara finds herself agreeing with his pro-Krypton/anti-Earth plans? SUPERGIRL #14 is written by Mike Johnson and illustrated by Mahmud Asrar.

And in SUPERMAN #14, written by Scott Lobdell and illustrateed by Kenneth Rocafort, the Man of Steel himself will be forced to come face to face with the gang’s worst nightmare: a creature of unknown Kryptonian origin who is not only more powerful than Superman, but is also smarter than Supergirl and more lethal than Superboy. How will Superman combat a threat of this magnitude? We don’t want to spoil anything so all we can say for now is that his actions will change the course of a planet’s fate!

Below, take an exclusive first look at “H’el on Earth” by checking out the covers for SUPERBOY #14, SUPERGIRL #14 and SUPERMAN #14.

Preview Mondays: SUPERBOY #8 and SAUCER COUNTRY #2

For this week’s installment of Preview Mondays, we’re giving you exclusive first looks at SUPERBOY #8 and SAUCER COUNTRY #2.

Setting the stage for “The Culling,” SUPERBOY #8 acts as a prelude to its crossover event with TEEN TITANS, LEGION LOST and the upcoming DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 “Second Wave” title, THE RAVAGERS. But what is The Culling? What are Ravagers? And how do they relate to one another? Find out in SUPERBOY #8, brought to you by the creative team of Scott Lobdell, Tom DeFalco, Iban Coello, RB Silva and Rob Lean. Click here to check out an exclusive preview of the issue.

In last month’s inaugural issue of SAUCER COUNTRY, writer Paul Cornell and artist Ryan Kelly introduced you to Arcadia Alvarado, a governor from New Mexico who is running for President of the United States. The twist? She believes that she was abducted by aliens. The series’ second issue, out this Wednesday, picks up immediately where its predecessor left off – with Arcadia telling trusted members of her staff about the looming threat of a full-on alien invasion. But will Arcadia’s confidants believe her and does revealing this information put her entire campaign in jeopardy? Find out in SAUCER COUNTRY #2, previewed exclusively here.

Everyone’s Talkin’ About DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, Friday Afternoon (ET) Edition

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY continued their weekly homepage placement of previews from DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. This time around? Next week’s SUPERBOY #3 by Scott Lobdell, R.B. Silva and Rob Lean.

Fans who picked up this week’s ANIMAL MAN #3 already know that the issue revealed a new twist to Buddy Baker’s origin story. NEWSARAMA interviewed writer Jeff Lemire about this revelation and what other surprises are coming up in the series. “The book's a horror book. It really is,” Lemire told them. “And the scariest thing — and you know this as a parent — the scariest thing you can possibly think of is something terrible happening to your child. If I can tap into that, I think I've created a really terrifying book and a book with a lot of emotional stakes.”

Yesterday, we told you about IGN’s Holiday Gift Guide. Well, it looks like it really is that time of year because UGO just published their Holiday Gift Guide as well. Head on over to their specific DC-themed gift guide for their recommendations of both new and classic titles like BATMAN: NOEL and SUPERMAN: THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN.

Still looking for more gift ideas? Released last week in comic book stores and this week in bookstores everywhere, FLASHPOINT is a hardcover collection of all five issues of this summer’s bestselling series by Geoff Johns, Andy Kubert and Sandra Hope that paved the way to DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. “Flashpoint is a necessary read, one that will have to be devoured and studied by anyone who wants to be in-the-know about anything that follows,” wrote AMAZON’s OMNIVORACIOUS BLOG of the collection.

THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER’s HEAT VISION previewed FRANKENSTEIN, AGENT OF S.H.A.D.E. #2.

THE LOS ANGELES TIMES’ HERO COMPLEX debuted pages from MISTER TERRIFIC #2 by Eric Wallace, Gianluca Gugliotta and Wayne Faucher.

IGN gave you your first glimpse at SUPERBOY #2 by Scott Lobdell, R.B. Silva and Rob Lean.

Following yesterday's NEW YORK POST newsbreak, AIN’T IT COOL NEWS caught up with WONDER WOMAN writer Brian Azzarello. “You read some of those stories, those are the most human stories that have ever been written,” Azzarello said of the Greek mythology inspiring his series. “They are as emotionally damaged as a lot of people are. And they’re just as damaging! They’re selfish, capricious, angry, loving, loyal, they betray…they’re like human emotions turned up to 11.”

THE TORONTO STAR chatted with local Canadian artists Jeff Lemire, Francis Manapul and Ken Lashley about their respective series and DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. “I think the books are different, which is something I was looking for,” Lemire said of the relaunch. “Animal Man is a very furious, very dark, emotional story, while Frankenstein is a really big, fun action-adventure, kind of over-the-top sort of thing.”

And while everyone's still talking about DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, there's another major announcement for DC Entertainment today. Timed to the start of the Frankfurt Book Festival in Germany, USA TODAY announced Vertigo's acquisition of pop culture phenomenon The Millennium Trilogy on the front page of their Life section this morning. Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy, which chronicles the stories of computer hacker Lisbeth Salander and investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist, will get the graphic novel treatment beginning with next year’s THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO. Each book in the trilogy will be divided into two volumes and will be published under DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint. Look for THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE in 2013 and THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNETS’ NEST in 2014.
