All month long we’ve been releasing sneak peeks of our June comics. You can look for most of them in the back of our Convergence titles and right here on DCComics.com. However, three of these sneak peeks first ran in DIVERGENCE, the special title we released for Free Comic Book Day on May 2nd, and haven’t appeared on the DC Comics website…until now. Below, you can read original, eight-page standalone stories for Batman, Superman and Justice League. These aren't excerpts from the June issues—these are original short stories that set up what awaits you next month. Enjoy!
There are big changes ahead for our Batman books, and if you’ve read BATMAN #40 and DIVERGENCE #1, you know what we’re referring to. It’s one of the reasons we held a special Twitter Q & A with Batman writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo on Friday—to help you get some answers about what lies ahead for Gotham’s greatest hero and for the star creative team who are responsible for his latest adventures. But if you missed out, don’t worry.
It’s been quite a ride, but with yesterday’s BATMAN #40, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s Joker-and-Batman-as-legend storyline “Endgame” has come to its end. The title would certainly seem to be an apt one judging by how the issue ends, and yet, with a new issue of Batman out in June (and an original Batman short story in DC’s Free Comic Book Day offering, Divergence), Batman isn’t going anywhere. In fact, Batman’s never been more exciting, unpredictable or relevant. Batman has never been more alive.
Today, America votes, but tomorrow, the entire world reads. That’s because Wednesday brings us the super-sized, action-packed, jaw-dropping spectacle that is the final issue of Scott Snyder and Jim Lee’s Superman Unchained. Launched last year in celebration of Superman’s 75th Anniversary, Unchained has been nothing short of epic, with imagery on a massive scale and a storyline that saw Superman’s ideals and beliefs being tested to the very core. Now, he’ll have to make an impossible choice.
SPOILER ALERT: If you have not read BATMAN #35 yet and do not wish to know what happens, stop reading this post now (major spoilers ahead!).
From the superstar creative team that brought you a new start to the Caped Crusader comes the story that could end the Dark Knight. The biggest, deadliest and most epic story yet from writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo – “Batman: Endgame” begins here!
