AMERICAN VAMPIRE VOL. 5 Debuts at #2 on THE NEW YORK TIMES’ Graphic Books Best Seller List

On Friday, THE NEW YORK TIMES published their Graphic Books Best Sellers Lists, and debuting at #2 on the Hardcover list was AMERICAN VAMPIRE, VOL. 5 from writer Scot Snyder and artists Rafael Albuquerque and Dustin Nguyn!

Scott Snyder is one of the comic book industries most talented breakthrough writers. With the launch of AMERICAN VAMPIRE written and created by Scott Snyder and co-written by none other than Stephen King, VOLUME 1 quickly became a New York Times bestseller. Snyder has reinvigorated vampire lore, not only by making vampires scary again, but by having his main character Skinner Sweet, become the first American vampire born of the American West. Through the lens of this eternal character, he explores what is both horrific and wondrous throughout the history of the United States.

AMERICAN VAMPIRE, VOL. 5 follows Skinner Sweet, Pearl and company as they return to Hollywood in the ‘50s during the Red Scare. Elsewhere, retired vampire hunter Felicia Book gets called back into action to kill the most powerful vampire of all time. Brought to you by critically acclaimed writer Scott Snyder (BATMAN and SWAMP THING), this hardcover volume collects issues #28-34 of the monthly series illustrated by Rafael Albuquerque (BLUE BEETLE), and the 5-issue miniseries AMERICAN VAMPIRE: LORD OF NIGHTMARES, drawn by Dustin Nguyen (DETECTIVE COMICS and BATMAN: LI’L GOTHAM).

For months now, fans have wondered what the next big BATMAN event following the acclaimed “Death of the Family” would be.

This morning, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS answered their question. Kicking off this spring, BATMAN: ZERO YEAR is an epic and grand 11-issue arc that chronicles the untold details of the Dark Knight’s origin story within DC COMICS-THE NEW 52.

It’s ‘The Zero Year,’ the one that no one has told the story of before. We see how Bruce became the Batman, built the cave, faced off with his first super villain … It’s time for a new story showing how Batman became who he is in The New 52. It builds up the mythology.”

Illustrated by series artist Greg Capullo, BATMAN: ZERO YEAR begins in June’s BATMAN #21. Head on over to THE ASSOCIATED PRESS to read their full coverage, and be sure to check back to THE SOURCE today for the full BATMAN family June solicits.

USA TODAY Reveals SUPERMAN UNCHAINED, Free Comic Book Day details, and more!

Back in October, we announced that writer Scott Snyder and artist Jim Lee would be teaming up to bring you a new Superman title that promises to elevate the already high-flying hero to new heights and force him to face off against foes familiar and new, as only two of the top industry talents can.

Yesterday, USA TODAY exclusively announced that the series, which lands in stores this June, will be titled SUPERMAN UNCHAINED.

“We're all fans and we've all known this character for a long time," Jim Lee told USA TODAY about the challenge of tackling the iconic Man of Steel. “You have to fight your natural tendency to do what you know or what you've always thought the character to be.”

Along with Snyder, Lee hopes that the series will show readers “really how this small little figure, this human-shaped character, can literally move mountains.” But the title is not the only news we have to share about this exciting new series!

USA TODAY also announced that SUPERMAN UNCHAINED will feature a back-up story written by Snyder and illustrated by Dustin Nguyen. They also revealed that fans will get their first look at this eagerly-anticipated series when a sneak peek of it will be featured in this year’s annual Free Comic Book Day issue.

Head on over to USA TODAY to read their full coverage, including interviews with the SUPERMAN UNCHAINED creative team of Jim Lee and Scott Snyder, as well as with Greg Pak and Jae Lee, the creative team of the recently announced new series, BATMAN/SUPERMAN (which will also be launching in June).
