“So we're finally here - the moment Jeff Lemire and I have been building towards since day one on these two crazy books we're writing, ANIMAL MAN and SWAMP THING.
“The fact that I get to tell stories, through imagery, with such powerful characters should be enough, but we are upping the ante, featuring All the DCU through the eyes of this rotting scenario...it’s disturbing. It’s intriguing. It’s awful in all the good ways. And we're just getting started.”
Last month, we told you that in anticipation of “THE DARK KNIGHT RISES” opening in theaters and IMAX ® on Friday, July 20, comic book shops across North America will be distributing a free comic book to celebrate the film’s highly-anticipated arrival. Last week, we announced the return of one of the most treacherous villains in comic book history: The Joker. And in case you missed it, we revealed the solicit information and cover for The Joker’s first issue back earlier today. Coming back to Gotham City in BATMAN #13, The Joker has got a big, bloody axe to grind with the Bat-family.
This October, one of the most notorious villains in comic book history is making his return to DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. In the new storyline, “Death of the Family,” The Joker will come out of the dark in a horrifying, unnerving, and huge way. And the grave consequences of his reemergence will be felt by not only the Bat-family, but by all of Gotham City.
On August 8th, BATMAN #12 will fly into stores.
As you may already know, joining writer Scott Snyder as guest artist for this issue is Becky Cloonan (DEMO; BEYOND THE FRINGE).
“The Bat-Office owes a huge thanks to Scott Snyder for hooking us up with Becky Cloonan,” BATMAN editor Mike Marts told THE SOURCE. “Becky’s an outstanding artist who has accomplished a lot of great projects in her career. We’re honored to have her illustrate BATMAN #12!”
