Yesterday was spent on a plane and asleep for the most part, but we're back in action today. As you can imagine, after the flurry of news and excitement that was the last two weeks, posting will be a little light over the next few days. But fear not. We'll have a ton of cool previews and a few surprises and photos from the show.

SDCC 2010: Converse and DC Comics team up

imag0101

If you've been by the DC booth at all during the show, you probably noticed that a few creators and DC staffers were sporting some pretty neat footgear -- custom Converse shoes featuring either the Green Lantern, Superman or Batman.

Part of a promotional effort with our friends at Converse, the shoes merge two of my favorite things -- a pair of snazzy Chuck Taylor's and comics. Don't take my word for it, though. Our very own James Robinson was among the creators showing off his new kicks at a signing hosted by Converse at the Horton Plaza Journeys store in San Diego yesterday. Want your own? You can snag a pair by visiting any Journeys store or online.

SDCC 2010: GREEN LANTERN: EMERALD EMPIRE

After the BLACKEST NIGHT comes the BRIGHTEST DAY for not only the GREEN LANTERN corner of things, but the entire DCU. You won’t want to miss this all-encompassing GL panel, featuring Geoff Johns, Tony Bedard, Joe Prado and Ivan Reis, led by Group Editor Eddie Berganza. What can fans sitting in Room 6A expect, GLC writer Tony Bedard?

“I'm looking forward to having the Green Lantern team all together -- I don't get to see Geoff Johns and Pete Tomasi in person nearly enough. I also want to tell folks a little more about the new villain debuting in my first story arc with GREEN LANTERN CORPS' upcoming new artist, Tyler Kirkham. This bad guy is getting a lot of buzz in the GL office and he's one way in which I want to expand on the Green Lantern universe (along with the Rookie Lanterns I introduced in R.E.B.E.L.S.).”

SDCC 2010: And now…BATMAN INC.

Remember when we told you to sit tight for another BATMAN announcement?

Well, here it is.

As revealed on the BATMAN panel at San Diego Comic-Con, writer Grant Morrison will be helming a new, ongoing Batman series: BATMAN INC., featuring art by the ultra-talented Yanick Paquette.

What does the “INC.” stand for? How will this new series build upon the amazing stories Grant has crafted in the pages of BATMAN and BATMAN AND ROBIN?

All will be revealed shortly on the BATMAN San Diego Comic-Con panel, as Grant shares a few details about the new series, talks about his overarching Batman story and teases BATMAN: THE RETURN, the issue that leads into the new ongoing.

It’s not an understatement to say Grant’s vision for the Dark Knight and his world has been an epic, evolving and all-encompassing tale. One that has not only put Batman – both Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson – through the ringer, but also redefined what the legend of the Batman means to those around him.

With BATMAN INC., Grant Morrison inverts the expected and presents a huge element of the unexpected to the Batman mythos, presenting a Batman status quo that is both new and energizing while at the same time remarkably familiar. We caught up with BATMAN Group Editor Michael Marts for some thoughts on what’s to come. Mike?

“Everything’s been leading to this. Bruce Wayne made his long journey home in THE RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE. Then Gotham City’s protector came back in BATMAN: THE RETURN. Now comes BATMAN INC.--the next phase of the Dark Knight as only mastermind writer Grant Morrison could imagine it. Joined on art by Yanick Paquette, this brand-new monthly series starring Batman and an unexpected supporting cast is sure to shock and surprise!”

SDCC 2010: DC FOCUS: GRANT MORRISON

San Diego puts the spotlight on the mastermind himself, Grant Morrison, as DCU Senior Story Editor Ian Sattler sits down with Grant to discuss his career in comics – from ANIMAL MAN to RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE -- and tease what’s in store. This is a can’t-miss panel for Morrison fans.
