The WAR OF THE SUPERMEN is almost here, but before the battle begins, the LAST STAND OF NEW KRYPTON has to happen. When? Today, of course. Courtesy of writers James Robinson and Sterling Gates and artist Pete Woods. As if you needed any more enticement to add the issue to your pull list, we’ve got a look at the very talented Ryan Sook’s work on the issue’s cover, including his sketch, pencils, inks and color. Enjoy!
Still recovering from that Cassaday image? Understandable. So are we. But we've got two more images that'll help get you to Tuesday with a smile on your face. Specifically, Andy Clarke's variant to BATMAN AND ROBIN #12 and Aaron Lopresti's WAR OF THE SUPERMEN #1 cover.
Writer James Robinson and artists Javier Pina and Bernard Chang present the third part of the battle between New Krypton and Brainiac, with Superman trapped on Brainiac’s ship while New Krypton burns. Can Mon-El call upon all the skills he’s gained in the past years to save the Man of Steel? What secret will our heroes learn about Brainiac to turn the tide of battle? No spoilers here, folks. But I do come bearing preview pages.
SUPERMAN #698 hits 3/24.
We hit the ground running with some major news not long ago — announcing that JMS was not only writing SUPERMAN, but WONDER WOMAN as well. And earlier today we talked a bit about SAMARITAN X, JMS’ newly announced OGN.
Amidst Brainiac's assault on New Krypton, General Zod has brandished the Legion of Super-Heroes terrorists and imprisoned them. Superboy will do his best to free them, but he'll have to go through Supergirl first -- wait, what? You read right, folks. It's the Super-brawl you weren't expecting, courtesy of writer Sterling Gates and artist Jamal Igle.
SUPERGIRL #51 hits 3/17.
It's New Krypton's worst nightmare as Brainiac attacks the planet, determined to recapture the city of Kandor. But General Zod has been waiting for this moment since Brainiac first attacked Old Krypton – he has a plan to save his people, but at the cost of Earth, which doesn't really bode well with a certain Man of Steel. So it's up to Superman, Supergirl, Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes to stop the two madmen before they destroy everything in their path.
