We all have our favorite comic book artists. They’re the ones with a style that breathes new life and energy into familiar characters, making you feel like you’re experiencing them for the first time. They transform their comic into a work of art that stands out from the other books on the racks, all while also speaking to you on a personal level, making your reaction and enjoyment of their work a truly unique experience.
Jase Peeples from THE ADVOCATE spent some time with the DCE Co-Publishers and some of the June creative teams to talk about the company’s goal to bring a more diversified and contemporary line of comics to an expanding and evolving landscape of readers beginning this summer. New and fresh creative voices, new takes on existing characters, new tonalities all combine to appeal to the growing variety of tastes for today’s reader.
Gotham fans have a couple of weeks to get through before the show returns on January 5, 2015 with a new episode entitled “Rogues’ Gallery.” Considering the sheer number of baddies that Jim Gordon, Harvey Bullock and the other heroes of Gotham have had to deal with in the show’s first ten episodes, it’s an appropriate title. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until the 5th to see if “Rogues’ Gallery” introduces any new ones, but for now, it can’t hurt to revisit some of the villains currently in play and look at where we left them.
