April's DOC SAVAGE #13 kicks off a six-issue story arc written by extraordinary artist (and Doc Savage fan) J.G. Jones, whom DCU readers will recognize from his outstanding cover work on Final Crisis, 52, Wonder Woman and of course Doc Savage and First Wave. The first part of J.G.'s globe-trotting adventure kicks off in the Egyptian wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and spans all the way to Cairo, which gives him the perfect excuse to give us this painting of DOC SAVAGE fighting a mummy.
Writer Brian Azzarello and artist Rags Morales present the next chapter in the FIRST WAVE saga, as Doc Savage and The Spirit have followed the Blackhawks to Hidalgo. But the Red Hand stands between them and the murderous Anton Colossi – who's busy breaking bread with his dear friend Bruce Wayne, i.e. The Batman. And when Doc's newfound fortune is stolen as quickly as it was discovered, it'll take another uneasy truce between The Avenger and Doc's crew of compatriots to track it down. FIRST WAVE #4 hits 9/29. We’ve teased this creative team a few times here already, but now’s your chance to get a handful of artist Nic Klein’s final pages, penned by the writing team of Azzarello and Brandon.
We’ve seen a few stunning images of preview art from rising star Nic Klein. We’ve heard from Assistant Editor Chris Conroy. But what about the new co-writing team of Ivan Brandon and Brian Azzarello? Well, as promised, we touched base with both of them and managed to finagle a few more pieces of new art from their first issue. So, what say you, guys?
Yesterday, we gave you a first glance at Nic Klein’s amazing and gritty pencils for the sixth issue of the Man of Bronze’s ongoing series, which is being co-written by Ivan Brandon and FIRST WAVE writer Brian Azzarello. Today, we checked in with series Assistant Editor Chris Conroy about the new story arc, with more art, of course. But that’s not all. Early next week we’ll hear from Brandon and Azzarello about their work, with, yes, even more new art.
We’ll be hearing from both Brian Azzarello and co-writer Ivan Brandon about what they’ve got in store for the Man of Bronze soon enough, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t tease some of the amazing artwork Nic Klein is cranking out. DOC SAVAGE #6, which hits next month, kicks off a new arc co-written by Azzarello and Brandon with Klein on art, making for an ideal jumping on point. Now make with the clicking below.
